About video/picture quality and text editing

Hi folks,

I'm now browsing at N-85, Nokia. N-series have Zeiss optic.

Nokia USA - Nokia N85 - Technical Specifications

Re:
Code:
Photography
    * 5 megapixel camera (2584 x 1938 pixels)
    * Image formats: JPEG, Exif
    * CMOS sensor, Carl Zeiss optics, Tessar™ lens
    * 20x digital zoom
I'm looking for resolution 1680*1400 or higher. I have no idea "5 megapixel camera" equivalent to?

Besides can they do simple text editing? E.G. I transfer/store some text files
on the phone via cable-connecting to computer and send them as attachment to
email after editing later/in need?

Any advice. TIA

I think you've answered your own question about the resolution.

Its a smartphone, so it can edit text and word documents plus send them as emails.

Hi prking,

Thanks for your advice.

Just visited Nokia showroom here, in Hong Kong, before reading your reply. The salesman told me that the max resolution of the movie taken by built-in video recorder on mobile phone is 640*480. If the movie is replayed on PC monitor/display of higher resolution the picture won't be clear. Unless I shrink the movie size. Should I need higher resolution I have to buy a digital video camera. Editing feature is not available on N-85. He introduced me another model but the built-in video camera being not so good as N-85.

Now I'm in complete perplexity. According to;

Megapixel Calculator - digital camera resolution
Megapixel Calculator - digital camera resolution | web.forret.com

But 1680*1400 is equal to 2.4 megapixel aprox.

I am in anticipation that some folks on the forum using Nokia N-85 can shed me some light. Can the movie taken be replayed clearly on 20/22" display of resolution 1680*1400/1024 without shrinking the size of the movie.

I see what you are getting at, your original post didn't mention that you wanted to know the video resolution, you talked about the still camera.

As far as I know there are few mobile phones which can record at greater that VGA with an adequate framerate (eg Samsung Omnia HD)
