hi all, am i right in thinking that if i get a phone with HSDPA, when connected to a laptop i can use the fones internet connection for the laptop?

the reason for this is because i can upgrade on t-mobile and was looking at the N96 which has the HSDPA and the G1 which doesn't. was also looking at the iPhone. i know its not on tmobile

You can but I have heard from others before, that setting it up to run on your laptop can be quite confusing unless you know what you are doing.

This may not be the case, just what I've heard before.

Re: Hsdpa

I use an MDA Vario 3 with updated firmware and it's just a few clicks on the phone to access internet sharing. I use it once or twice a week to view something on the laptop that I can't on the phone (ordering things or filling in online banking).

I use the usb cable but i think you cna even configure bluetooth internet sharing via PAN.

Be careful, you are meant to be on wnw plus to use the internet sharing (I'm not, but as I mentioned, I've updated the firmware from T-Mobile). Not sure if they can check but if you have high volume of downloads it will get picked up. It's pretty straight forward on Windows phones
