How long to charge a new phone?

I bought my daughter a LG KP500 phone yesterday and put it on charge at about 5pm.
At this moment in time (10:30am the next day) it is still charging. This seems to be a VERY long time to charge one little battery.
Is something wrong or is this normal for this type of phone?

Re: How long to charge a new phone?

The battery is showing 2 bars full with the 3rd bar flashing.
The battery spec says 900mAh, Li-Ion (whatever that means)

Remove the charger and use the phone untill it gives low charge signal and then recharge.

they say charge for about 16 hours, but i don't think that is required, 3 hours or so should do the trick

You should always charge according to the instructions supplied with the phone. Certainly a Li-ion battery only needs a short charge and could be damaged by a lengthy charge. That may be what has happened to the OP.
