Mobile broadband VS I-phone Data plan.

Hi, i have a 3g iphone but i work in a data centre so i rarely get a 3g signal unless im upstairs, am i right in thinking that a mobile broadband USB stick would be exactly the same signal strength??

i currently get an edge connection when sat at my desk, but moving 20-30ft i get a strong 3g singal.

i was kind of hoping a USB mobile broadband stick would have a stronger signal than my iphone (after reading various issues with the phones reception).

thanks in advanace.

ps. i checked the post code on the o2 site and i get a green light, ie a strong connection in this area.
