best place to buy if coverage may be a problem??

Hi all, I am looking at a new phone on either Orange or 3 and aside from calls and text I mainly want to use mobile TV whilst I am at the football. Now I have already discarded vodafone as they show no coverage at the ground in Hull.

Both Orange and 3 show that they have coverage for 3G but I got caught out with my iPhone on O2 in this way, I was told EDGE would be available in the areas I want but it is not!

Does any shop (online or in-store) offer returns if you cannot use the service you buy the contract for? The guy in the 3 store today said that if I was not able to use 3G then I could return it within 14 days but i'm not sure if I believe him!

Every phone contract comes with a 14-day cooling off period, regardless of who or where it comes from. So as long as you are able to test it properly within this period you can be safe in the knowledge that you can return it, so long as it's still in 'as-new' condition.

This applies whether you buy from the likes of CPW, Phones4U etc or directly from a network.

I thought this but I was looking on various websites and all of them seem to state that you can return the handset providing it has not been used or opened. Not much use particularly as I will have to remove the sim from the card to insert it. Or am I wrong? Where would you reccommend?

I;ve got a three phone and bought in store and they told me I could return it but if I used the phone I could NOT. Doesn't make much sense but thats what they say and the three literature.

Once had a Vodafone and returned a used phone within 14 days because of roaming issues. But I appreciate you've already discounted them.

Three are usually alright, they offered to lend me a phone to check if the coverage was ok before I signed anything.

Re: best place to buy if coverage may be a problem??

I've just been on the phone to Vodafone to ask about returning a phone if I couldn't receive a 3G signal and they told me I had 14 days to do so. They also checked the postcode for me and said that 3G coverage should be ok. I checked the Vodafone map again and i'm still unsure but I guess if I can return it then that's the best I can do.

I also tried Dialaphone and the guy cut me off!!! (I want the N85 not on 3 and the only places with it on VF see to be Dialaphone and Phones4u in store only)

I have the Vodafone coverage map below and as you can see the coverage may be a bit patchy (Red is 3G Blue is 2.5G) but the one where I selected coverage in 6 months time is fine!

However if you order online you have 7 working days to notify that you want to return, for whatever reason.

Back to the OPs original use, trying to make a phone call at a football stadium is bad enough so I doubt you will get mobile TV working well.
