Hello,

Ive recieved an O2 Open code by text from O2, it says to show staff in store with proof of employment to get a great deal.

Ive been told it should give me a saving of 30% off any Contract monthly payment.

I got the code from a friend who works for a big company and told me these codes are for use for friends and family as well as employees of corporate O2 customers.

Has anyone used one of these instore? as I dont want to look like an idiot going instore and then being asked for proof of employment when I dont have any!

Hi my Hubby has a card issued from employer ( trying to find it now lol) my son used it to buy a payg phone that had to be over a certain amount, and got the full 30% discount When other son wanted the I-phone at launch our local shop wouldnt let him use it with that, you are supposed to be able to use it with contract tarrifs I am trying to find out if you can use it with their simplicity tarrif.

Mobile Phone Discounts We have teamed up with O2 to deliver a significant savings offering on mobile phones, known as “O2 Open”.

The Deal

O2 Open offers discounts on mobiles from O2. You can use the scheme up to six times per year, and can extend the benefit to friends and family.

O2 Open gives you:

30% of all the monthly tariffs you’ll find in O2’s retail stores (including the Apple iPhone)
£20 off any Pay and Go phone, costing over £80
20% off accessories


Please note the following exclusions:

O2’s SIM only deal ‘Simplicity, XDAs, PDAs and Blackberries are excluded
The 30% discount on the Apple iPhone applies to the monthly tariff only, not to the purchase price of the iPhone itself (where this applies)

I was searching for this answer and came across this thread... just wanted to add that the company I work for recently provided us with o2 open codes and I successfully used the code on my existing personal account, iphone £35 down to £24.50 p/m

Obviously you wont see it on your bill until the next cycle cut, but it is pro-rated from the date applied.

How will the codes be any use to you without matching proof of employment?

No proof of employment is required as the codes are open to friends & family. All you need is the card, so AFAIK sending a PM with the code on it will do no good.

O2 - Terms & Conditions - Current Promotions

1. O2 Open can only be used by present employees of selected O2 corporate customers. O2 reserves the right to verify that those intending to use the scheme are employees of a company with a current corporate account.

The O2 Open card and O2 Open code will be invalidated once card holder ceases to be an O2 corporate account customer.

Proof of identity in the form of a payslip or company ID is required. One card or code per person, percalendar year.
2. The O2 Open card or O2 Open code can be used in any O2 store to receive the benefits up to a maximum of 6 times per calendar year.
3. The O2 Open card and O2 Open code are the property of O2 and may be retained or invalidated if O2 has reasonable cause to suspect fraudulent use or if the card holder or person to whom the code was allocated ceases to be an O2 corporate account holder.
4. O2 Open cannot be used in conjunction with any other special offer.
5. Benefits of O2 Open cannot be transferred and no cash or credit alternatives will be offered.
6. O2 reserves the right to cancel or withdraw the card scheme at any time.

If you get chatting with one of the people from the O2 shop they might show you the list. I asked a while ago but cannot remeber anymore that has already been posted but the list was quite extensive. I asked for a copy but the manager wouldn't allow it - against data protection!!

States that only employees of qualifying companies can avail of the scheme, but can they use the scheme to obtain a discount for family and friends too?

I hope it can still be used by family, I have an Iphone but my daughter wants the new one and wants me to take her to the O2 store next week to take out a contract.

It would be a waste to be able to use it 6 times a year for employee only as you would never do it unless you were a serious phone freak ?

Yes it would be a bit pointless wouldn't it. After all the employee probably has a corporate phone anyway.

I went into an O2 shop yesterday and asked about the friends and family element of this and was told it was fine, I can let my daughter take out a contract on the Iphone and anyone else as long as I bring my open card some ID or payslip showing I still work there and stick to the six uses a year.

So as long as they have not sold out we will be back there on Sunday.

i went into a o2 shop on saturday and a guy printed me off 3 pages of companies that are part of it and told me if i knew anyone who worked at these places they could get me the discount........hope he is right.
