O2 customer retention plans

Just wondering what deals people having been getting/offered in the last while..

just off the phone to them, was offered 600mins 1000texts free calls to o2 phones for 20 pounds a month on a 18month plan, but no phone just a sim only looking like extra £5'er a month for really any phone bar the iphone..

thinking thats just a standard deal flying about at the mo, I am sure there is better to be had, been with them for years now and had alot of issues with my bills over the last 6months but in the end was sorted out with a few calls..

Re: O2 customer retention plans

That sounds like the simplicity tarriff they have put you on.Its not an 18 month contract its a monthly rolling contract you can cancel it with 30 days notice. My contract was up this month and due to the lack of any new phones from 02 i went on the simplicity tarriff 600 mins 1000 txts, unlimited web bolt on £20 a month no contract.

Re: O2 customer retention plans

I wanted the C905 as an upgrade.

They'd only do this on an 18 month contract.

I told them where to go.

Re: O2 customer retention plans

I can upgrade from the 11th of November and went in to ask what I would be offered. They couldnt tell me but what they did say was I would not get another 12 month contract from anyone, this true? My average bill is £70 and I said I wanted to upgrade to the bold, now or could I have my pac number and I would go to orange, via p4u who would pay the last month of my line rental so I was not out of pocket. Was told ok, go ahead!!

At the moment I am hanging on as I am now not 100% on the bold and o2 tell me that once into the last 30 days of my contract they could save me a fortune with their offer, although they dont yet know what that offer is???

Re: O2 customer retention plans

Vodafone still do 12 months I think.

I am expecting O2 to tell me to sign 18 months from 12 very soon. I will tell them I will as long as they show me some incentive (for once)

Re: O2 customer retention plans

been reading into deals from o2 on other sites etc...

seems o2 now only offer 18month plans via rententions anyways.

also found a girl that works at o2 posted this

"make sure the advisor you talk to sound like he/she is from liverpool/scouse. if there accent is yorkshire or welsh, stick the phone down and try again as this is a free call or try the 08706007102 press 2 press 2."

more of it i pulled

"Best approach is not to get arsey with them and just ask them outright what you are looking to achieve. Is it cost your looking to reduce or do you just simply want to get a new handset that may be chargeable to a new customer? Be realistic because they are not just there to give away phones for the fun of it, they want to give the customer the best deal but can’t let o2 lose money at the same time, this is why there is a budget in place.

It’s very hard to say how it much you get off, as it is specific to your contract. Yes deals look generic and people get the same as others but only because they may spend the same each month, pay their bills on time etc.

You need to remember they are only allowed to offer loyalty within reason usually within a budget so it’s no good ringing them up and saying right im off unless you do my deal for £10mth with a N95 8gb etc.

They are there to help and will give you a great deal based on your usage or future anticipated usage. i.e. it would be a bit silly offering someone 1000mins if they only use 137 per month just because their mate had that deal. the deal offered will be basic on your personal contract, this is why deals varies from person to person.

you will get a better deal than what you has been on and it will be very competitive usually to reward you for your loyalty. They are not stupid
and do realise that the deal you may have been on last year could be a lot better this year following market trends etc.

Also remember additional services like free unlimited bolt ons on certain plans, O2 treats (additional free allowances by dialling 2211) cheaper broadband and priority tickets to the O2 stadium to boost your loyalty rewards."

think that is some sound advise going to try it once i make up my mind on a phone..

Well they wouldn't budge on giving me the C905 on a 12 month contract.

That's why I'm no longer with them.

Re: O2 customer retention plans

They don't do 12 month contracts anymore full stop.

T Mobile do, as do Vodafone and virgin.

My contracts just finished, was paying £25 a month for 12months for their online 500 (had £10 month subscription discount) - I was offered £20 a month for 12 months, then £30 a month for the last 6 months and £149.99 for the C905!

I'm currently looking on phones4u website, they have some decent 12 month contracts for £40 a month with decent free phones - I'd rather pay a little more for a 12month than wait 18 for a new phone.

Re: O2 customer retention plans

vodafone let you upgrade handsets every 9mths as well

In the past 18mths on a 12x £30pm tariff (1000txt/200mins/500mb data) I've had an N95 8gb and a SE w980i with another upgrade to come in 6mths

Wouldn't go back to O2 again after seeing the colour of the grass on the other side

I'm now looking to move from Orange to Vodafone; could you give me more details on the handset upgrade every 9 months as I can't seem to find that on the Vodafone website.

Only, the deal I have with Orange at the moment is fairly stunning; do you know who I would have to speak to to Vodafone to get them to match it?

Just pop your details into this page when you have 70 days left on your contract for a handset upgrade.

Re: O2 customer retention plans

Vodafone it is! I quite like the look of the X1! - I'm just wondering, at phones4u theyre offering £40 a month & free N96 or C905 on 12month contract. What are the chances i can still upgrade with voda in 9 months?

Or would i have to go through voda to get this?

How did you do it Uridium?

Cheers!

Re: O2 customer retention plans

Best contract deals are always done face to face in your local store. decide on the phone you want first then on the maximum you want to pay per month.

walk into the store and tell them the deal you want then begin haggling

I got an N95 8Gb free on a 12x£30 tariff this way when there should have been a £150 handset premium.

Remember your the customer doing them a favour by buying from them. you can take your custom elsewhere they WANT to sell to you

Same for traiff changes. Vodafone CS will tell you you have to wait 9mth into a contract to change tariff's. go into a vodafone store and they will do it anytime there and then

I was surprised to get such a decent upgrade after only 9mths but it definitely works. it was even delivered next day free!

Got a follow up call from CS a week later reminding me i can upgrade again in 9mths :-)

Re: O2 customer retention plans

Thanks for the advice.

With Orange I currently pay £15 per month for

750 minutes
250 texts
Insurance
Free Internet

The reason for that is my bills are always over £300-500 because of roaming and I've been with Orange ages. I doubt I will get Vodafone to match that given I have no history with them.

Hmmmmmmmmm.

You may be better off getting a Higher cost tariff with the free vodafone Passport option. From memory it's a connection charge of 75p per call then calls are charged to your tariff as usual.

Think they do an international call saver option on some business plans they gives you a 20%-30% discount on roaming calls.

Show em bills for £300-£500 and i think they'll be eating out of the palm of your hand to be honest. Surely there must be a way to reduce that?!?!!?

I hope your grass isn't orange. I only care for PAYG and I've had enough of Orange's useless PAYG limited conditions and their idiot service.

Nearly everytime I try and call them their system cuts me off after 5 minutes of voice menu mincing. When I eventually get through to their offshore site they can't increase my call forwarding timeout as I'm not on a contract. I can't use their "favourite number" option as I'm not on a contract.

One whiff of using GPRS and I'm charged £1.

I'm thinking of going for an O2 £10 Simplicity package with the £7.50pcm data bolt on? Can anyone put me off before it's too late?
