Problem involving 3 network and SIM

Hi,

Just started a brand new contract with 3 (moved from Orange) but I'm having a problem. When my phone loses the 3G signal (which is a lot), it reverts to the 2G network, but phone then displays 'Inactive USIM' and I can't use it. Even when back in the 3G area, I need to turn the phone off then back on again for it to change back. Can't get in touch with customer services as there is currently a technical fault.

Re: Problem involving 3 network and SIM

It sounds like the USIM is not registering on the 2G network (Orange). When a phone is turned on, or roams onto another network (when you switch to 2G) the phone registers the SIM card on the network. It's a bit like logging onto a computer. The network can reject the connection. This could be a problem with the phone or a network issue.

If this is the case then you will need to contact Three.

Thanks. Thought that was the problem. I'll try to contact them again now.
