Talking help wifes viewty battery life sucks

Hi all, anyone know how to get the best out of a viewty battery wise? She has it on o2 and makes very few calls, turns phone on about 8am and its dead by 4. Anyone know if there is a software fix or any other tips? Is it worth her taking it into an o2 store or will they charge her for it?

Any help would be great as there is football on later and she wont stop moaning!!

Re: help wifes viewty battery life sucks

battery life on mine seems to be really good. here are some tips that you may or may not know:
-switch the brightness down to it's absolute minimum
-switch off 3G if she doesn't use it.
-switch off keypad tones
-use the lowest setting for vibro feedback

ok, to switch the brightness down, go to main menu -> last tab on the right -> select 'screen' -> brightness

to switch off 3G, go to main menu -> last tab on the right -> select phone settings -> connectivity -> network settings -> network mode -> select 900/1800.
this will mean that GSM and GPRS(for connecting to the internet) will be available but 3G and HDSPA(ie fast internet connection) won't be. because it's not constantly searching for those signals, it wil save on battery life.

also, switch off bluetooth if you're not using it. for bluetooth, go to main menu -> last tab on the right -> select bluetooth-> turn off

Re: help wifes viewty battery life sucks

yeah, give it a few days to see how the phone goes on.

note that the battery meter is non-linear. i'm not too sure what the percentage figures are on the viewty (ie because it has 4 battery meter bars instead of the usual 3), but on a phone with 3 bars, use the following approximate guide:

2 bars - battery 50-84% drained
1 bar - battery 85-97% drained
0 bars - battery 98% drained.

many people seem to think that the very minute it goes down to 2 bars, it means that it's 33% drained.

Hey there, just to throw in my 5 cents, I don't do any of the above, I have web and walk and opera mini running 24/7, my battery lasts about 3 days give or take. If I was you, I'd just get a new battery.

Re: help wifes viewty battery life sucks

Always turn off Blue-tooth when not in use, this is one of the biggest drains on any phone battery. Batteries life after some usage reflects on how it was treated in its early first days of use. Conditioning a battery is still a factor in longevity of the cell, short cycle charges (topping of a charge) alters the amount of true charge the cell retains after a period of time. Just because the battery shows a full charge on the phone, it does not reflect that the battery is charging to its full potential.

If you still find it’s not as expected and you intend keeping the phone for a little longer? The cost of a new battery is nominal.
