Loop hole in orange contract?

Hey guys,
Am trying to find a way to get out of my orange phone contract, am only 4 months into an 18 months contract, whish is on a £45 month tarrif. Am moving to spain which i didnt know when i took the contract out, and i need to cancel it as they offer no coverage over there. Does anyone know if there has been any changes to there terms & conditions in the last month or so, as ill be able to cancel through this.. or does anyone have any other ideas?

There's no way to cancel the contract unfortunately. The only option I can think of is get it transferred into someone elses name.

Or as you're leaving the country just sack it off and dont pay it.

Debts can be collected in EEA countries, so where ever you go it follows you, trust me!

you can ask them to reduce you to lower tarrif, then pay it off

Re: Loop hole in orange contract?

if you buy out of a contract too, you don't pay VAT.

Are you sure about that, everything has VAT applied?

Dont understand why it would make a difference when buying out of a contract, as when you buy out you get charged your monthly line rental times by the amount of months you have left. Line rental has VAT on it.

VAT is not applied to everything and some things which attract VAT have different rates. Basically, VAT is paid when there is an exchange involved, so you wouldn't pay VAT on insurance, for example.

I settled an orange contract early a few years back and I can confirm you don't pay the VAT, apparently this is bcos you're not paying for a service, however they'll probably give the impression you'll pay the VAT until you demand the actual settlement figure from retentions.
