Re: unlock code orange
All of Orange's phones are locked to the network.
You will have to call them, give them the IMEI/Serial Number of the phone (by typing in *#06# whilst phone is turned on)
They usually charge £20 for the pleasure.

Re: unlock code orange
No mate, you pay for use of the network/airtime, you dont pay for the phone throughout the year.
But yeah, it is now yours now your contract has ended. Just like Vodafone, 3, T-mobile, they all charge a fee for unlock codes. Been like that for years.

Actually you should give them a call, they should unlock it for free for you, there is actually a law in place for this. Once your contract is over the phone is yours and they should unlock it free to allow you to use the phone on any mobile provider.
Don't accept what they tell you first, ask for manager if they refuse. I will try and google up the directive that this is.

At the end of the day, the network you are on buys the handsets. You pay for line rental and use of their network, the phone and sim is always the networks property, technically.
If you dont want to pay to get the phone unlocked there are loads of other places that will do it cheaper or if you have the know how you can do it yourself for free.

Re: unlock code orange
If you're in town to go to the Orange shop and they do want £20, then there's bound to be one of those little mobile shops that do reapirs, sell accessories, cases etc. They usually unlock any handset for £10. There's at least 4 I know of here in Aberdeen!
You could also try these guys who I've seen recommended in this forum:

Re: unlock code orange
Sounds like one from the Network Providers Bumper Book of Excuses
No doubt if you had asked before they would have said it was free after it's finished

There is no such law. And you link to another forum where someone was campaigning for such a law.

That's India for you. Some of them are really nice and go out of their way to help you, other times they are obnoxsious (sp?) and do sweet F.A. but pee you off.
Anyway, as your old account is deactive, you should be able to get an unlock code for it if you get a PAYG sim. I'm pretty sure they should be able to do it on any active account be it contract or PAYG?
I used to work there and I would've put it through on your deactivated account. You can still access it and I would've thought it would've just produced another invoice for £20 once the code was produced?
But saying that the India call centre are totally by the book on everything, they would've just seen the terminated account and said no.
