Does that not mean You Tube for streaming though?
Does Orange have 3G, HSDPA whatever its called like O2? for speedy web browsing?

No with the unlimited web browsing pack your allowed 500Mb now, check online, I chatted online to orange who said this
I would like a iPhone 3G, but Im put off by the rubbish camera, vid recording, Bluetooth issues.
Also I think its a bit big for my ruff and tumble life, and wouldnt like to take it with me when out on the lash, wouldnt fit in my pocket and be scared about the screen cracking.

You sound like me before I took the plunge. I haven't looked back. You need to decide what's more important to you, a great web browser, youtube player etc or a phone which can bluetooth a funny ringtone.
I really haven't missed bluetooth. The camera is definitely not great, but does the job when I want a quick pic, and I'm sure video recording will be made available soon via the app store.

Re: Google Maps and You Tube on mobiles data usage?
agree, but I have Bluetooth radio in my car and apparently doesn't work with this.
Also the cost is still a bit high still £99+35/month
Camera and Vid recording is important to me I think, I like always having a camera in my pocket with decent results, and for vid recording when out and about with kiddies.
Also it just seems a bit big for me as well, don't get me wrong its a really really cool device, I play with them in O2 shops every time I go out! but just niggles about the size in my pocket, and the camera are holding me back.
I've never had web on a phone, so the next 18 months to have it for checking stuff like cinema, sport, news, emails etc will be cool. I'm never really far away from a computer so for full use of a web browser prob be ok.
Surely as well they will come out with a proper TomTom GPS app, and not just Google Maps? BTW how good is Google Maps on a mobile? does it suffice for when your out and about looking for stuff? nearest place/bank/cinema etc? I have a PocketPC with inbuilt GPS but would be nice to have Google Maps when havent got that with me
I have to say Ive started now to take my iPod Classic with me now to watch movies and TV shows when Im waiting for my daughter to finish activities, They are watchable, would be nice to get 3.5" screen, but again saying that I have this already on my PocketPC, it has a 3.5" screen, and I have a 4Gb now, so could just get a 8Gb to use for movie and take this with me to!!
Look really Im trying to talk myself out of it
I do want one, but the things that I dont like in it make me think get the LG secret or Samsung Tocco
cheers

I use my N95 for mobile browsing every day. I'm on t-mobile with web and walk. The normal web and walk comes with 1gb usage per month, the business service 3gb. Using Opera as my web browser means that in reality I use about 10% of my allowance each month. The covers me for the odd you-tube content, google maps, general internet browsing and the odd stream here and there.
I use a mix of google maps and Nokia's own maps on the phone. Google maps uses your signal location to get to within a mile of your location, and then gps for greater accuracy. I like the fact that I can still view the satellite image for the area (or just maps) and do localised searches really easy as you would online. Banks, pubs, restaurants etc appear on the map pretty much instantly on hitting search. It's simple, but easy to use.

So Google maps isnt bad then? a mile radius thought it would be better than that tho!
O2 is unlimited data use, Orange and vodaphone is 500Mb Unlimited, so I think O2 will be at least this.
And you say you only use 10Mb of this, thats cool, I ant to use Google maps a lot, and you tube, so will prob use more, as the LG secret doesnt have GPS. (you tube looked like uses about 1Mb for 2min vid according to a search)
Never had data/web on whats it like speed wise etc? is it ok? are there a lot of pages now for mobile phones? optimized for them I mean?
It says the LG Secret has IMPA4, POp3 etc, does this mean I can get my actual email to my phone? or have to use the webmail function of it?
cheers

Yep - Google maps gives your location within 1700 metres just using the phone signal, that's it. Comes into its own when you know where you are and want to search for local amenities (bars) and can then zoom into the map and see the street names. You're only looking at a couple of hundred Kb to download soho and then the rest of the data use is minimal. it's very efficient.
Speed is intermittent for me depending on 3.5g access. Sometimes it is slow and you wonder why you're bothering, other times it's lightning quick. I've had this type of package with both Three and T-Mobile and they've both been intermittent, so might be signal, might be phone. You can normally get some sort of a connection though.
Using Opera (which can be downloaded from their website for free) you have a choice of how you view web pages. You can view the whole page on screen as an overview and then zoom into areas that you like. I tend to go for this option. Alternatively, Opera also allows you to view pages in rendered mobile phone format so you just scroll up and down to see the text of the page and the odd image. It's much quicker as it doesn't load the page architecture, but I always feel that I'm missing out on the whole web experience when I use it as an option. Have a look at the guided tour here
Using Opera does mean that most websites don't know that you're accessing from a mobile. However, the likes of BBC have designed their website for this eventuality, so articles can be viewed and scrolled down without having to scroll from side to side to read each line. Opera is sort of taking away the need to have sites designed with separate templates for mobile phones.
If the phone has pop3 capability then you will be able to set up mail from the phone without using webmail. I've got yahoo set up via pop3 on my phone, and have downloaded a googlemail app for my google account. I've also got an exchange mail server for my business email and that pushes email to my phone when they come through too. All comes out of the data package, so be careful you aren't having it synch lots of images sent through to your accounts. may be better to use webmail. yahoo also have a free programme you can download and use to access your email, and other things like localised search which also works by picking up your location. The possibilities are endless!

Re: Google Maps and You Tube on mobiles data usage?
MMM ok sounds good but not brilliant.
Anyway got the phone today its charging, but noticed it hasnt got the Google Apps on it anyway!!! its on O2. the Google Apps on the phone i reviews are as follows
1.Search
2.Mail
3.Maps
4.Blogger
5.You Tube
6.Uploaded History
I take it that they are links, eg the search will open a browser and goto google.com, Mail will open a Mail app? You tube will open browser at www.youtube.com?
So can I not just put these in my bookmarks? eg the search, You Tube etc? and download the Maps onto my phone?
cheers

Re: Google Maps and You Tube on mobiles data usage?
LG Secret.....
Dunno about it yet though looks nice, havent tried it yet, will do 2moro as charging now
I did want an iPhone, but too expensive, and clumsy and crap camera, but also don't know if I made a mistake about the 18month contract, always want a new phone after 12, normally sick of it by then...ahhhh
I got 600mins+1000texts+unlimited web+free LG Secret for £25/month, - what you think?
