Device Problems
Hi All.
I'm posting this in the faint hope that there are some telecommunications experts in our midst that can maybe solve a problem I am having at work.
We have recently bought an MC35 device (motorola symbol) for use as a PDA. On this we have loaded some 3rd party software that we have had developed for remote job dispatch for our workforce. This works via the GPRS and sends jobs to the device and back from the device via a backend connector to a works management system.
We have been using this 3rd party software for 2 years now without issue on the HP IPAQ6915, but we have decided to ditch the HP for more of an enterprise business device (hence the MC35). The software runs fine but we are having problems trying to make or receive phone calls on the device whilst we have an active GPRS connection between the device and the backend system. You can ring another number from the device but when the other person picks up at the other end there is no audio at either end. The phone works fine if there is not active connection via our 3rd party software so it seems that the device is not able to switch between voice and data very well. Like I said we've not had this problem at all in the MC35, and we have also tested a few other devices without issue. It just seems to be the MC35. We have just bought 67 of them which ideally we don't want to have to send back and then start testing other devices again as this will put our training and eventual pilot and roll out back a good couple of months !
We haven't involved Motorola at this point, we are trying to generate log files on the device that our supplier for the 3rd party software, and also the software engineers at the company we bought the devices from can look at. Involving Motorola is our final card that we can play !
Any ideas anyone ?
