O2 Pay & Go

I have never considered P&G tariff even though I don't use my mobile much, probably less than 100 minutes and 100 txts each month.
Now, after Apple announced the price for P&G iphone, I started to calculate the amount of money I need to pay for Pay monthly tariff (£30 x 18 months + £99 for iphone = £639). Compare that to P&G (iphone £299), I might make a bit of saving there. However, I need to know a few things, hopefully someone can tell me:

1. Do I need to top up every month?
2. If I do not finish using £10 top up after 1 month, would the amount left continues to the next month?
3. Which P&G tariff would suit my need better?

Many many thanks.

Re: O2 Pay & Go

I have used an O2 PAYG SIM and you only need to top up every month if you wish to receive your allowance of minutes/texts. Otherwise the remaining balance of(for example) your £10 will simply rollover and each subsequent call/text will be deducted from it. When you do next top up, you will instantly receive your allowance once more.

One of the best deals is to find a free O2 SIM which are readily available online to get your free monthly allowance. These simply require the minimum £10 top up that you mentioned.

Re: O2 Pay & Go

Would the allowance rolls over as well? Or just the remaining of the top up only?

Re: O2 Pay & Go

Sorry, only just check forum...

Allowance does not roll over, if end 30 days after you last topped up. You can then either use credit balance to send mmessages or make calls or simply top up again to add min £10 to balance and allowance is immediately restored.

I had 300 free texts and used balance to make calls, for example.

Re: O2 Pay & Go

With Pay Monthly contract, you have to pay certain percentage (17.5%?) of tax/vat every month on top of your tariff.

Do you have to pay that for P&G?

Re: O2 Pay & Go

Probably worth mentioning O2 have just increased their prices...now a minimum 20p per call charge until you have used up your first 3 minutes each day. If you made nine 20 second calls it would cost you £1.80 !!

Re: O2 Pay & Go

I am interested in the iPhone PAYG tariff as I do not make many calls or texts and probably would not browse too much once the novelty wore off! I want the iPhone as an all in one device - as an iPod, PDA & occasional phone use.
But I don't understand how you pay separately for the internet data after 6 months!

1. Do you pay £10 per month by separate top up (separate from calls/texts)?
2. Is there a regular separate paymentof £10 for data (like a contract)?
3. Is there an alternative to the £10 monthly fee?
4. How is internet browsing actually charged?
5. Is access to BT openzone & Cloud free on PAYG?

So many questions!

Any advice from seasoned o2PAYG users would be appreciated!
Thanks,
David

Re: O2 Pay & Go

Bolt-ons are just deducted from your credit on the phone. If you don't have enough credit then you don't get that bolt-on until you next top-up.

Say your bolt-on costs £5 and is due on the 1st of the month.

On the 1st, if you have a balance of £10 then £5 will be deducted and your bolt-on will be active. If you had £2 balance then you will not receive your bolt-on. If on the 3rd you top-up £10 your bolt-on will be activated, £5 will be deducted and your bolt-on cost will be due on the 3rd of the month from now on.

Re: O2 Pay & Go

I remember when a few years ago, easymobile launched a web only SIM only deal. The prices were great but unfortunately they seem to have dissapeared.

http://www.mobylo.co.uk

I have seen a new company that say they are going to be launching a SIM only deal on the web. It says 20% cheaper than the operators. It doesnt say when its comming, but maybe something we keep an eye on....
