Phone / GPS advice please
I'm looking to buy a new phone and/or GPS device and I'm not sure where to start.
I don't know whether to get a phone with integral GPS (Nokia N95 or similar), or whether I'd be better getting a phone with bluetooth & a bluetooth GPS like the Proporta GPS 2000 Freedom Keychain Receiver.
I need a long battery life & good signal in remote areas as I want to take it to the hills, rather than driving.
Any advice?

Re: Phone / GPS advice please
IF you were to get an N95 it would be better to buy another battery for what you want.
My N95 came with a car charger in the box.

Re: Phone / GPS advice please
The other problem with N95 is that arguably the best mapping program (TomTom) can't/doesn't use internal GPS, so you either need to find and be comfortable with another program that can or buy an external bluetooth GPS.

Re: Phone / GPS advice please
In two weeks time nokia are bringing out a specialist GPS phone called the 6210 navigator which (unlike its predecessor the 6110 navigator) has an internal compass. I'd check this out before making a decision. Certainly this phone should have far better battery life than the N95. It is worth noting also that the new iPhone (released around the same time) will also have GPS.

I'd never condone software piracy and i have a fully legit licensed copy of TomTom bought for another phone but i have seen a certain hacked version of TomTom6 working on the N95 using the internal GPS.
So it can be done, just that TomTom support can't be bothered to do it.

N95 N95 N95 N95 N95 N95 N95 N95 N95 .
Personally i prefer GarminXT over TomTom.
And Uridium is right, latest version of TomTom can use internal GPS but you would have to be a very naughty boy\girl to use this as it requires a hacked version of TomTom and that is very very bad....but it is easy to install.....apparently.....but you should not do it because it is wrong.

I have a dedicated tomtom so won't be doing this myself but I am interested to know if you have any instructions, web links would help to know what/how it works. thanks

Re: Phone / GPS advice please
Thanks,
That sounds really good, especially the new navigator.
Most of these seem focused on in-car navigation. Has anyone used any of these out of the car?
Also, I'm more interested in tracking where I've been than being told where to go, do you know if they save your route if asked?
