Upgrade contract and wondering about F490 or U900

So contract has run out and just looking to see what deal I can get from Vodafone (dont know much about good phones so thought I would ask on here) I can get either of the above Samsungs for free with a £30 monthly 600 mins/unlim txts deal. Have looked at reviews and seems the F490 is a bit of an Iphone style whereas the U900 seems to be the phone of the moment!!!

Can anyone offer some advice on which one would be best to get for general phone usage, txting and a bit of average internet usage etc.

All advice greatfully received even if you say don't get either

I've had both them phones and there not bad, But Vodafone have started doing F480 Tocco now that is much better than both...
http://shop.vodafone.co.uk/mobile-ph...samsung/tocco/
Touch screen very responsive
I'd go for the Tocco..

I know this is not why you posted but you can get a much better deal on your tariff than that. As long as you don't want an N95, 8800 etc. then Vodafone retentions can (and do) offer people who might leave half price line for 15 of 18 months (you can renegotiate after 16 months anyway). They are also allowed to put the total you are committed to spend in line rental towards a phone. I know someone who just got the same tariff as you for £17.50 and got a free C902.

Anyway, as far as the phone goes I would steer clear of Samsung! Having spoken to Vodafone technical support numerous times about a useless Samsung I had it would seem that I was far from the only one and they themselves recommended I replace it with a Nokia or SE (which I thankfully did). If you're considering touchscreens, though, why not check out the HTC Touch Diamond which will be out on Vodafone in a couple of weeks? It looks ideal for anyone using the internet.

Re: Upgrade contract and wondering about F490 or U900

Quick update and funny really as I had forgotten my wifes contract also runs out in 3 weeks with Orange so gave them a call and changed from 25 per mth 150 mins/250 txts to 600 mins/unlim txts and free Tocco for same 25 per mth which I think was pretty reasonable and really didn't have to try hard (1st guy offered same contract deal and 199 for the phone so just asked for PAC and hey presto!!)

So now leaves me with dilemma on voda contract as could take above poster suggestion on reduced line rental or get another phone eg N95 as I do like Nokia or possibly the Viewty and try both this and the Tocco to see which one I prefer!!! As a voda mailshot fell through the door offering most of these phones for free with 600/unlim does give a bit of leverage, will see what they offer when I call them later?

It's not really a case of either/or. You won't get an N95 with half price line rental (the N96 is around the corner anyway) but you will get a very tidy phone (I'm waiting for the forthcoming 6210 navigator). Personally I wouldn't touch LG any more than Samsung but if you're gonna have a shootout between touchscreens then the HTC Touch must be in the reckoning surely?
