Using a Blackberry without a blackberry contract
I've been given a Blackberry and would like to use it on my normal vodafone contract without having to upgrade to a blackberry one. I've installed Opera mini and gmail but can't get either of them to work. The phone browser can connect to the internet but Opera and gamail both error when trying to connect. Is it possible to use these apps without a blackberry contract and if so how?

Re: Using a Blackberry without a blackberry contract
Hi
Blackberrys are very difficult to use without a blackberry account.
That said I think you will only need to enter the APN details for vodafone.
I don't know what they are though, but if you head over to vodafone.co.uk they have their own forum, and someone there maybe able to help.

Re: Using a Blackberry without a blackberry contract
I know that without a Blackberry account the internet usually doesnt work on T-Mobile blackberrys, would imagine its the same for Voda.

Re: Using a Blackberry without a blackberry contract
I would check to see if you can remove the Blackberry proxy settings, it may be forcing you to use a blackberry only APN etc.

Re: Using a Blackberry without a blackberry contract
I've got it working now by adding the Vodafone APN settings. Thanks guys it was that simple in the end! Intrestingly the gmail app seems to be always connected and notifys me of new emails, it didn't do that on my last phone. Do you think I should worry about data usage?
