SE walkman phones.No inbuilt memory?

ok i bought a w580i for my 10 yo son.

But was really surprised when the specs said it only had 12 meg inbuilt

memory.

I assumed because it was being marketed as a walkman type thing that

it would have at least a couple of gig (4 or 8) in it.

but it doesnt i have to buy an m2 card and the max size it supports

is 2 gig.

Is this right? am i missing anything?

really peeved off with this

thanks

Re: SE walkman phones. No inbuilt memory?

Well if it's anything like the W850i I got as an upgrade last year then yes, mine only has about 30MB odd internal memory, probably not even that much, but it did come with a 1GB Pro Duo memory card in the box. The maximum it supposedly supports is a 2GB card, but I've got an 8GB one in it quiet happily. If you have more then 4GB free space though the phone only reports 4GB free, but I've got around 6GB of mp3s on it. Word of warning, I'm not sure if new phones have been improved, but big playlists and the walkman software don't mix well. Quite often crashed my phone trying to load 2000+ songs, which is a bit of a nuisance. Sometimes it works, but if you need to add or delete something you may have to reboot it a couple of times before it loads everything and keeps it without switching itself off.

Its a £90 phone, what exactly do you want for that money ?

It comes with a 512Mb memory card and officially supports up to 2Gb. As its bundled with a memory card there's no real need for any large amount of internal memory.

The W960i has 8Gb and is available for around £400
