PAC code query

Gonna get myself a new phone and not quite sure how the PAC migration thing works. Once i have given my PAC code to my new provider (orange in this case) it takes 2 days to change my number over. During this 2 days can i still use my old phone (with my number) or do i have to use my new Orange phone with the number given until its migrated over?

It will be a PAYG to PAYG migration so assuming you can migrate numbers with them

Re: PAC code query

you should be able to use your old phone, unless they have given your card a deadline, I doubt that for payg though.

Thanks

How long in reality does it take to migrate once i have given Orange my PAC code. They say 2 days but is it normally quicker?

Also, could i put the new Orange sim in my old o2 phone just to copy my address book over to it?

What normally happens is that both SIMs will be active until the morning of your transfer day. On the day that your number is transferred, there will be periods when one or both SIMs do not work. So once one has gone off, its best to turn both phones off for a few hours, to prevent confusion. (or you may have incoming calls on one SIM and outgoing on the other for a short period!)

If your O2 phone is unlocked then it may work with your Orange SIM. But the best thing to do is keep a backup of your contacts etc on your computer or on-line. That way you can easily transfer contacts between phones and wont loose them if your phone ever breaks/gets lost.
