Provider contacts to block a handset or find out if an IMEI is blocked , ( tip of the day-- Orange are central to this so a call to Orange should quickly be passed to all providers even if you are not with them ).

I just found a Mobile Phone behind my house in a field.

It's a Nokia 6100, and its IMEI numbers already been locked. What should I do with it? Take it to polics station?

Even if the original Owners get it back won't it be useless to them, or can they have the phone "unblocked" so to speak?

Take it to your local police office so the phone can be reunited with it's owner. The phone can be unblocked however that is illegal for a non authorised person to do.

Nope - BT Cellnet became O2, then BT sold it off to pay it's debts & formed BT Mobile which actually uses the Vodafone network.

This is all very good, but how can I find out if the mobile I bought off ebay a few months back has recently been reported stolen? It's stopped working and will only allow SMS messages. No voice in or out. I can't figure out if the phone is faulty or reported stolen.
