Re: Best network??

That contraact with o2 is £35 a month with a free silver viewty on an 18 month contract where you get 600 any network minutes, 1000 texts and your choice of either:

Unlimited O2 to O2 Calls

Unlimited texts

Unlimited Web Bolt On

Unlimited weekend calls

Unlimited landline calls

200 extra anytime minutes

Hope that helps a little bit

Sam

Re: Best network??

For £40 on Voda you'd get 900 minutes anytime, any network, unlimited (FUP) texts and unlimited (FUP) data. The data can be used for modem data too, with your phone connected to a laptop, which some networks charge extra for

For £35 you get the same but 600 minutes anytime, any network

Where did you find those tariffs? Instore it's £40 a moth for unlimited texts, 600 mins and unlimited browsing.

Also, i didn't think the viewty was available from vodafone?

Re: Best network??

On the Voda website, it's one of their listed favourite tariffs. And Voda don't do the viewty, but do offer the Secret (Viewty's replacement I believe) which I personally prefer the look of and it has a proper keypad. The spec's are pretty much the same as each other though

Re: Best network??

I think what you are referring to is where you currently get £5 per month, but that's only available with certain phones, which doesn't include the Secret. Am i correct in thinking this?

Nope, check out this link: http://shop.vodafone.co.uk/mobile-ph...hly/lg/secret/

I'm referring to a standard priceplan on a standard phone the Secret is free on the £40 and £35 plans I mention, both of which are listed at the bottom of the page I linked to above

All Voda contracts over £25 automatically include unlimited data. As always there is a FUP though, but you do get it. Unlike other networks, the data included can be used as a modem with your laptop, so it's truly mobile internet. Here is the press release from Voda...

Quote:
* Facebook most popular site for UK customers
* Vodafone’s best-ever value tariff

As Facebook, Bebo and eBay top the popularity charts on Vodafone Mobile Internet, Vodafone UK has today changed the way it structures its price plans to include access to the internet and email on their mobile as an integral part of the monthly price plan.
The move means that pay monthly customers will no longer need to buy an additional internet bundle for £7.50 but instead every plan will automatically include internet access. The new plans will give Vodafone customers reliable and fast unlimited* access to their favourite social network sites, email and the whole of the internet when out and about in the UK. Vodafone customers will now have even greater confidence to browse the mobile internet without the worry of additional charges, no matter what monthly plan they choose.
Price plans start at £25 and customers who select a £40 or higher price plan will also for the first time have the choice of unlimited texts, unlimited landline calls or unlimited Vodafone to Vodafone calls.
“Our customers want simplicity and services that are easy to select, buy and use. Today with our new price plans Vodafone customers have the confidence to browse for as long as they need with no extra costs when checking their e-mail, visiting their favourite social networking sites or making a final bid on eBay,“ said Ian Shepherd, director of consumer for Vodafone UK. “This will make Vodafone not only the network of choice for voice and text but also the internet. And what’s more, all customers who visit a store to sign up to the new plan will benefit from Vodafone’s simple two minute set up for email so that they can leave the store up and running.”
Since launching the internet on mobiles last summer Vodafone has witnessed the growth in consumers’ appetite for email, instant messaging, and social networking as well as more general services such as Google search. Favourites for customers include quick access to Facebook, MySpace or Bebo to share pictures and news, YouTube to check out videos on the move, and fast connections to eBay to make that last minute bid. (see tables below)
Top 4 searches on the Vodafone Mobile Internet (VMI) (ranked by most searched first)

1. Facebook
2. Bebo
3. eBay
4. Windows live Hotmail

Top 10 mobile internet sites on VMI (ranked by most visited first)

1. Facebook
2. Google
3. BBC
4. MSN
5. Bebo
6. Sony Ericsson
7. Yahoo
8. MySpace
9. Windows live Hotmail
10. YouTube

Notes to editor
*subject to a fair usage policy of 500MB / per month
The following can be used as a guide for approximate usage, which may vary slightly according to different handset and browser functionality:

* Streaming three 90 second video clips from YouTube would be the equivalent to (=) 4.5MB
* Download one 3 minute movie trailer from Odeon = 3MB
* Browse 50 Internet pages = 1MB
* Find your way to the restaurant using Google Maps = 0.6 MB
* Check for updates on Facebook and upload a message = 0.1MB
* Check your emails and reply = 0.5MB
* Read breaking news on the BBC (4 pages) = 0.1MB
* Place the winning bid on eBay (10 pages) = 0.25MB

Re: Best network??

Ye, i've read that statement before, but i didn't think it had come into affect for online tariffs yet though, especially as when you go through the vodafone website they still ask you if you want to add unlimited internet to your tariff (which i have selected already and is above £35) for £7.50 a month. I thought the changes to the online tariffs were starting on June 1st.

Also, they don't advertise it as a feature of the price plan atall, which is another reason why i don't think it has come into affect yet, i thought Vodafone would be shouting about it.

Re: Best network??

It's in effect already, as a quick call to Voda CS will confirm

They have also increase the 120MB data for £7.50 to unlimited (500MB FUP) and that can be added to your contract for free so long as your tariff is over £25 and you're happy for an additional 6 months to be added!

In any case though, you can get the unlimited data now on those price plans as many Voda customers have already found out. If you're not 100% confident in ordering it over the web, phone CS and get it through them no trouble at all. You might even be able to haggle the price down a bit or blag more for your money

Re: Best network??

If in any doubt get CS to clarify it. My Mrs' did exactly what you said and when she asked CS about the unlimited data, they confirmed it was on her account already. But I'd always recommend getting them to confirm it before you commit yourself to a contract. Better safe than sorry

Re: Best network??

Not sure about the deals on the Viewty, but I can tell you I've just swapped networks from T-Mobile to 02 and the reception difference is like night and day.

I thought the reception with T-Mobile was good but with 02 its vastly improved. Area's where the reception was not great, I get full reception with 02. The customer service IMO is better also.

Good luck with choosing.

T-Mobile is probably the worst reception of all 4 main networks.
So if you had gone to any of the others it would of been a big difference.

Not to keep on about this, but I disagree. I've had mobiles in the past with all other networks and Orange was the worst, Voda and T-Mobile were about on par with each other.

Without a doubt 02 in my area is the best provider for reception.

I suppose it all boils down to the area you live in, and what network offers the best reception in that area.

Think you've just hit the nail on the head there. In your area

I was talking about a average coverage of the country.

I used to travel all over the country with my Job and found on average Vodafone was the best and T-Mobile the worst.

Obviously this wont be all arias. In some Orange will be best where as others T-mobile will be.
But like I said on average Vodafone is the better.
