SymTorrent worked quite well when I tried it, although the download speeds weren't amazing compared to what you get using a pc. Problem for me was the battery life (as always).

Re: torrent download application on n95 8gb

I used my wi-fi connection for the downloads. I am not a rich man...

As for what to download, music torrents (in mp3 format) should play okay. If they're in a .rar archive you'll need x-plore or something like that to extract them. As for movies, those encoded for the ipod (320x240) should play okay.

The other thing to mention is that the N95's browser won't recognise the .tor files as a filetype. So when you click 'download' on whatever torrent site you use it won't work. I used the Opera browser to download the .tor file and save it locally. Then I opened the .tor file with Symtorrent.

Easier to use a pc really...

Re: torrent download application on n95 8gb

Please keep this to programs to download torrents rather than what is being downloaded, there is a fine line being walked

Re: torrent download application on n95 8gb

Sorry!
Okay so i downloaded Opera mini and tried to download the torrent file using that browser and i had no luck. so i downloaded Opera and tried with that..still no luck. it seems i may need to purchase the paid version in order to be able to download the .tor files, does anyone know if this is the case? both that i had used reviously were the free/trial versions.
thanks!

Re: torrent download application on n95 8gb

I don't think opera mini can download files directly - it seems to send the download link to the N95's built-in browser. However, I have found that when trying to access torrent sites (e.g. mininova.org) one the built-in browser the site is blocked (work ok on Opera) - I'm on Three uk. I think this is the reason that you cannot download .torrent files . If you wanted to test symtorrent then you could copy a torrent file from your PC to the phone and then open it with symtorrent - I haven't had chance to try this yet but I suspect that if Three are blocking access to torrent sites then they may well block torrent traffic in general so Symtorrent may not work unless there is a way of encrypting the traffic .

Peace.
