Which is the best software to use with my n95 8gb for upgrading to latest firmware,putting music onto phone , loading maps and apps etc

Nokias own software works well, the PC Suite that comes shipped with the phone. Does all you need and more

Its better than the Sony Ericssson File Manager

Get the latest version from the internet though rather than using what's on the CD.

You'll need Nokia PC Suite, Nokia Map Loader and Nokia Software Updater.

agree Andy, download worked better for me, as i said, good software, good one Nokia

For transfering music, videos and pictures to the handset I simply connect the phone to my PC via USB and use it as a mass storage device (you need to install the drivers first).

For installing applications, I do the same as above but drag the SIS files to a folder on the phone and install it from the file manager.

The only time I use the Nokia PC Suite software is sync contacts, tasks and calendar with Outlook.

Try and install version 1.60.80.

Latest version is 2.0 but I've found that to be extremely bloated in comparison.

Plenty of people say don't bother with the N-Series PC Suite, use the "regular" Nokia PC Suite.
