Carphone Warehouse 'Club Mowbli' Question...

Hi guys

Currently have a Nokia N95 (God I HATE this phone!!) on T-Mobile Flext 35 on an 18 month contract that I took out with Carphone Warehouse. I also took out their 'Club Mowbli' (I think I have spelt that correctly?) insurance with the main reason being that I am able to cancel my contract half way through the term no questions asked, in this case 9 months which will be May.

The question I have is, has anyone here done this? Is it as simple as just walking into my local store and telling them I want to cancel? Also, is it easy getting the PAC code from canceling early?

I will be staying with T-Mobile, but will be going direct to T-Mobile, and not with the shambles that make up my local Carphone Warehouse (have already made 2 complaints to their customer services)

Any info would be great

Thanks

Pretty much as you say, walk into store and tell them you want to cancel, take all appropriate paperwork etc. with you. One thing to be aware of is there is no facility for a PAC, so be prepared to lose your number.

Thanks for the reply

I wonder if they would just give me another phone rather than cancelling the contract?

I think that another catch (besides losing your number) is that you have to return the phone. Any problems with it you should be able to get answers for on the N95 thread.

You might be better off selling it on ebay and then buying another handset. I'm fairly sure the iphone is now fully and easily unlockable; again, see the iphone thread to check.

Yeah, I know I have to return the phone.... that doesn't really bother me in all honesty

As for the iPhone, I'm not interested in it

The N95, for me, is the worst phone I have ever had and has been sent in for repairs 3 times for the same problem (not making/receiving calls or texts), which just adds to the hate of the phone, plus the rudeness of the staff at Carphone Warehouse just adds to the hate. I know some people love it.... me, well I wish I NEVER had the bloody thing May cannot come soon enough! Back to Sony Ericsson for me!!

If you still have probs with the N95, try synchronising all your stuff with a PC using Nokia PC Suite software, then do a full format of the phone (*#7370#). This will wipe everything on the phone (not the mem card) and reset it back to defaults.

Or try using the Nokia Software Updater (NSU) to update to the latest firmware, this will wipe everything too.

In both cases, try not to have an applications on the memory card - these may automatically reinstall and may be what's causing the problem.

I don't know if you've done it, but the most common cause of problems with the N95 is using the Nokia PC Suite Backup utility to restore Settings that have been backed up from a different firmware version.

If you can't get a PAC code, buying an unlocked/T-mob SE on ebay and ebaying yours may be the best bet.

Or, if you don't like ebay, you could try CEX (Computer Exchange). They will trade in the N95 and you can get a pretty good idea what you will end up paying for the SE you want.
