Advice with ending a vodafone contract

Hi everyone - hoping someone can help

I've had nothing but problems with vodafone customer support and my account since i got it - im on an 18 month contract plan which ends in 3 months time

I have been in talks with vodafone for a week or so and they agree that my experience has been poor - but i want to come out of my contract and forget about it
They've told me i can buy out of the last 3 months for £95 or do an early upgrade as a good will, but the phone selection they have i think is poor and i will have to pay a large amount if i do this ( as an example a nokia N95 will cost £75 on top of my current £35 contract .... or i buy out for £20 more and go to 02 which will give me even more minutes and texts than i get now as well as free internet and a free N95 )

Does anybody know if other networks will buy out of contracts ?
- I know O2 wont but does anybody know if another network will ? Im after an LG viewty (that is on every large network apart from vodafone) or an LG KF700 (which O2 told me should be out anyday now)

Phones4U said they would but i have heard horror stories so wont take them up on it

Thankyou for any help, if another network wont i'll just have to wait till next month when buy out will cost less and sell my phone to cover it

thanks,
Luke

Luke, been thinking of ending my Voda contract which is up in a few months,
Noticed O2 are offering better deals as well,
Voda do not want to match O2 to keep customers,
been with them 3 years,
Talking to both at mo..

Re: Advice with ending a vodafone contract

I too am fed up with vodaphone. I got my phone through Phones 4 U, who are desperatly trying to buy me out of vodaphone.
If I dropped my tarif down do £20./ month, then phones 4 u will pay the £140 remaining and they offered me an LG veiwty on Orange, O2, voda again, on more or less any contract.
I find them quite helpfull.

For info my contract now is Vodphone 500,500 at £35/ month
dropped to £20/ month phones 4 u will pay £140 buy out.

Hope this helps

Re: Advice with ending a vodafone contract

Thanks for replies guys - well it seems like vodafone isnt very popular at the moment .... if you look on their forum's there are many trying to end contracts / complain

Robinhood, it really is silly voda isnt realising how they compare to other networks, I was on a payt sim for a year or so before i took my contract with them so it isnt like im just jumping networks every year to get a better deal or have caused problems

I have been in talks with vodafone and to buy out it is the remaining time you have left on your contract times by your tarif minus VAT, but i have been told by 1 CS member i need to give 30 days notice in writing where as another said to terminate a contract i could phone it through whenever i want to end it .... so im going to go with the 30 days notice option - explicitly stating i want to come out of my contract on this date, and i also contacted them to ask about dropping down a tarif so buying out will cost less ( ironicly they offered me more than what a new customer gets at £30 - but told me on average im hitting 500 texts a month with 300 minutes, i know 500 texts is no where need what im sending as i only sent 50 this month and on average its 150 minutes a month i use so i think they were trying to make themself sound generous )

Thanks RichieUk - im on same contract as you with vodafone but I read some horror stories about phones4u such as distributing personal details and repairs done under insurance coming back faulty which made me think twice - they offered to buy me out of my contract as well though which is very tempting

thanks,
Luke

Its 30 days in writing. They won't take a cancellation over the phone. I'm sure they state it in the small print of your contract. I've just sent mine in as I have found them dreadful also.

Probably going back to O2. I know that they aren't great either but I have found them better than Vodafone or Orange in the past.

So, you are 11 months into your 18 month contract, and they have offered to buy you out of the remaining 7 months (7 x £20 = £140)? Did you just go into a store and ask them to do this? Did you ask for a Viewty specifically? By any contract, was it any 18mth contract (rather than 12).
Cheers.

Luke, Voda told me about the thirty days in writing, which is fair, have thought as well about explaining exactly why am leaving in letter, will ask for contract reduction when i ask for a PAC code

I phoned them up as my N95 was faulty, and they said I could send it for repair, or they could buy me out of my contract, and I could get a new phone.
They showed me quite a few which I could have on a £35/ month contract (18 months), but I want the N95 8Gig, and would have had to take out a £45/ month contract for them to buy me out and have that tariff, as the phone is more expensive.
I sent my phone away in the end, and will wait 6 months untill I can upgrade, or change my contract to another £35/ month with that phone.

Hope that helps

Re: Advice with ending a vodafone contract

Cheers for the info. I got my phone from phones4u too, and I remember the sales guy in the shop mentioning something about coming back after about 12 months to discuss another deal - I guess this would be to buy me out. Ive still got a few months before Im up to 12 months in to my contract, so Ill wait for the Sony Ericsson Xperia to come out, and see what deals are on offer

Re: Advice with ending a vodafone contract

I sent my N95 away for repair and it came back so out of shape that the back cover will not fit anymore and the sim card wont go in either, they wont accept responsability at the moment and to buy my contract out they want £243. I have been with them 3 years

thanks robinhood - after the last issue with them ( a store member telling me i couldnt get out of a contract early which got me angry ) i came back and typed up a 3000 word complaint letter about every issue i have had with them, i guess it is time to date and send it
As far as i know - pac code wont come out until the termination fee is paid which isnt able to be paid until the 30 days notice
I was told though that the tarif runs from the start of the month until the end so changing tarif wont kick in until april ( i was told by customer support so im not sure if it is true or not, wont be happy if it isnt right though as my bill goes up until the 28th of each month )

richieuk - n96 is expected later this year so if you can hang out till autumn .... but im going into town tomorrow so might pay them a visit and ask about buy outs thanks.

Dave - take it into a store and tell them to look at it, they seem to be more understanding - is it insured ?
Your paying for a handset as well in your contract, hence why it costs more than simfree so if they arent going to take responsibility for breaking it and repairing it i would think there is a loop hole they arent supplying their side of the contract so it could be void - i would also raise it as an issue on the vodafone forum ( "repairs centre - anybody else having problems with it" type thing to catch attention )
When my phone came back from the repairer last time i had somebody elses memory card in my phone and they couldnt care less, lucky i took my card out before i sent the phone off but i felt bad as their were personal pics of weddings on it and i couldnt get it back to the owner

on a side note - anybody else get a text to rate their services as a network and customer service ?

thanks,
Luke
