Problem with new phone...any advice?

I have a T-Mobile contract and upgraded to the Sony Ericsson K770 last week. Phone worked great for a week but suddenly its stopped working in my house. Basically, the phone is full of bars so you wouldn't expect coverage to be an issue but when I try to receive/send texts or calls I just get a few beeps when I try and dial. Thought it was a network issue but when I put the Sim Card into my old phone (also Sony Ericsson) it works fine. Went to the shop to complain and got a replacement K770 but the same problem happens!

Very strange as I haven't changed network provider, my 5 year old Sony Ericsson works ok but my new Sony Ericsson refuses to connect when in my house.

I'll probably go back to the shop tomorrow and try and swap to a Nokia but can anyone offer any advice as to what could be the problem as I quite like the phone (apart from it not working )

Cheers

Re: Problem with new phone...any advice?

Hi - I have the same phone and had the same problem on vodafone

I had bars of signal etc but would also get messages such as no access to network, phoning for customer support didnt help me as they said it was a handset problem and to take it back, when i went to the local store knew about the problem

Mine was a problem with 3g network in my area ( at the time i was up in Hertfordshire at uni )- it was an easy fix go to ( im doing this by memory as my phone is on charge ) - menu - settings - connection settings - network settings - then i think it is GSM / 3G - open that and choose GSM only

if you try that, let me know what happens

As your other phone is 5 years old im guessing it isnt 3g compatible so is just using standard t-mobile network, because youve had 2 of these handsets i dont think it is handset problem either, and as your sim works in another phone doesn't sound like a simcard issue

thanks,
Luke

Cheers Luke, I'll try that. My old phone is the T610 so probably pre 3G era.
