Walkie Talkies

I'm thinking of getting some of the above. Not sure that this is the right forum but does anyone now if these are ok for use in the UK.

I have a feeling that some frequencies are not allowed.

Can anyone help.

Re: Walkie Talkies

Why not buy two way radios (that is the search term in the UK) in the UK? Sure they will be around £20 instead of $20, but add in the shipping and if they fail and chargeable batteries, or different style chargers and you get a different price picture all together...Oh and they will be certified to work without interference over here....

Re: Walkie Talkies

I've just bought something very similar from Maplin - a pair of Motorola TLKR T3 radios, which are PMR446 handsets, and are definitely legal in the UK. £30 the pair, and look pretty similar in spec to the ones you linked to - 5km range etc. Those weren't even the cheapest - they had a pair with rechargeable batteries and a charger for £20. Really not worth shipping from the States at those prices - plus the DTI do take a very dim view of using unlicensed transmitters over here, and the fine would definitely make the UK ones a better buy!

Re: Walkie Talkies

You definitely shouldnt be using those in the UK, for the sake of a few extra quid get UK certified ones and avoid any problems.

Not really for this forum though so im going to close this.
