Mobile Phone Insurance

Just upgraded my phone yesterday at phones4u and took out the premier plan plus insurance with it, but today I was contacted by a company called LTC offering me cheaper insurance, has anyone else been contacted by this company and taken out insurance with them?? The number I was contacted on was 08444142585. Not sure whether it was a scam and if i should report it??

Cheers

Re: Mobile Phone Insurance

How much is the insurance and does it cover the cost of fraudulent calls? If not, it will probably be cheaper to add the cover to your home insurance. Your mobile may be covered under a personal possessions section of your home insurance already so it may not be necessary to waste money on extra insurance, unless you want to cover calls, which your home insurance would not do.

Re: Mobile Phone Insurance

I'm currently paying £9.99 for the phones4u insurance and that covers pretty much everything, this other company said they could reduce it to £7.99 but would need to take the full payment (£84.99) and couldn't offer it via DD and told me I would have to cancel my DD with phones4u insurance company. I didn't give out any details and just fobbed them off, just thought it was weird they were able to get my new number?? It was probably just a 3rd party insurance company, still i'm a little p*ssed my details were passed on after having the phone for a whole 16 hours!

Cheers for the reply.

Re: Mobile Phone Insurance

Is it really worth paying £120 a year to insure a phone when you would get cover for all but the calls for probably less than £10, depending on where you live, with your home insurance?

Just a thought but if you could put, say, a £50 cap on your calls so that spending would never go above that, you could then bin the separate insurance.

Re: Mobile Phone Insurance

Just check out your home insurance before you do that! Good luck. If you have any more insurance questions on phones, just ask.

Re: Mobile Phone Insurance

85 quid a year for mobile phone insurance? You're joking...

I think my complete home contents cover, which is for something like 50 grand's worth of contents in the home and 5 grand's worth anywhere in the world (which covers laptop, mobile, iPod etc) is less than 18 quid a month - so about 2.5 times what they are quoting to just insure your mobile. Get personal possessions cover added to your home policy - it's much cheaper.

Re: Mobile Phone Insurance

Yes. Just realised I should have qualified my earlier posting by saying it would probably cost less than £10 a year to insure your mobile as part of your home insurance.
