Has anyone used mopay to sell their mobile phone?

I might sell my w810i and they will offer the highest I've been able to find from online purchases. They'll give me £43.93 but only mention that it needs the battery and charger. Does this mean I can remove the memory card before sending it to them and still receive the full amount?
I'd also like to hear anyone's general experiences with them.

Mazuma offer more for my old phones than Mopay, although bizarrely not yours. The only one that I have actually used is Envirofone, was going to use Mazuma then I got offered more for it in a private sale. Sorry I can't actually add a useful comment.

Thumbs down Re: Has anyone used mopay to sell their mobile phone?

Mopay ripped me off. I sent them 2 phones. 1 which I was unsure worked, 1 which i knew for a fact worked as i used it the day before i sent it before the battery went flat. It took them 2 weeks to send me my check eventually saying both phones didnot work and sent me less than half the amount i owed. I emailed MOPAY to enquire stating that i knew the phone worked and that the battery was flat and requested they retested it or sent me the phone back as i had not payed in the cheque. Im still waiting for a response 3weeks later so may aswell accept the measly £19 they have given me. I would either avoid and use Envirophone as they tell you the phone does not work firtst and ask if your willing to accept the amount or get the phone back. Or if you want to risk getting stung by MOPAY make sure the phone is charged. But in answer you donot need to send sim card, memory card or changer/any accsseories.

Re: Has anyone used mopay to sell their mobile phone?

I always use envirofone, used on 3 phones so far.

All I did was send the phone and battery, just make sure its atleast half charged to avoid any problems. Always kept the memory card and what ever else for my self.

They give you a prepaid envelope too, and when sending the phone, use recorded delivery, it will be discounted as they will charge the cost of first class postage to envirofone, you only pay the recorded amount.

No problems so far

I'm looking at using Mopay too. I have all the manuals/charger/box etc, but I take it I just send the phone (minus memory * sim cards) making sure its fully charged ? Also whats the best way to wipe the phone of any data ?

Thanks
Steve

Beware avoid at all Costs
Got a new Iphone from local O2 shop, they suggested I use O2 recycle to dispose of my existing phone now this was an HTC HD2 with 14 months left on guarantee quoted me £167 so I left my phone with the shop manager, after 10 days got an email down grading the offer to £42, they say there is a blemish on the LCD, rang they said the blemish was not visible to the naked eye but it was there so the price as been reduced, asked for it back charging me £14,99 postage, just avoid at all costs, my phone was like new, I feel stupid for trusting O2

Angry Don't use mopay!!

I sent my phone to them in the free-post envelope provided but seeing how flimsy it was, I carefully wrapped the phone in tissue so it would arrive safe. However I received an email saying the screen was damaged on arrival so I wouldn't be receiving my cheque. Despite several heated email exchanges, they refused to pay. I cannot believe the phone was damaged as it was so carefully wrapped. I have since requested that my property be returned to me as them keeping it would amount to theft. From looking in other forums lots of people have had similar issues so my advice is DON'T USE MOPAY!! I am sure Mazuma or one of the more well known companies would be better!

I've used both mazuma and O2 for differing phones. Managed to get decent prices at the time but prices fluctuate a lot even on them.

Both instances it was just the phone and battery that was sent - everything else I kept.

Personally I'd stick to a bigger name as a preference. Also take some photo's of the phone's condition (just in case)

I fear that this company have taken me for a ride. Over a month ago I sent them a Nokia N86 in excellent condition and valued by them at £90.00 They eventually sent the prepaid packaging which was as lisdeleau says very flimsy. I "overprotected" it so that they couldn't complain of damaged goods, then it took them two weeks to acknowledge delivery; then they had to test it; then they had to try and con me out of £15.00 by saying that they thought my phone was just a plain N86 not the N86 8Gb. (I thought the N86 only came in 8Gb)
As I'd requested payment by BACS I thought 3 days to transfer the money would be simplicity. No such luck !!!! They then asked for a copy of the form that they had emailed to me. By now warning bells were starting to sound so I rang last week (last week in April) and was told that if the money wasn't in my account by Thursday to ring them. No it wasn't and yes I did, only to be told that they were moving office and would be up and running on Tuesday (3rd May).
Guess what! Their 0845 number is now diverted to someones mobile who has it switched directly to voicemail. Emails were returned by the webmaster. So it looks as if this "for the benefit of charities" company has benefitted from fiddling £90.00 out of me.
DO NOT USE THEM AT ANY COST !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've used them successfully in the past, but this was going back a good few years now. Recently I've found Mazuma to have impecable and super-fast service. I posted my experiences in the thread asking about 'phone recycling' or Mazuma a few months ago, but I think Mazuma are the only company I'd now use based on my own bad experiences in the past and what I've read of others.

Sorry to hear of people's bad one's here too

Problems here too.

Sent my old phone to them about a month ago. Sent recorded delivery which they signed for.

Phone is sitting at "tested" in my order and my emails to them now just bounce back undelivered.

Tried to call too but there is a recorded message saying their systems are down. Have been for a week now.

I eventually used Mazuma to sell my N95 8gb and I could not fault them.

The one I keep looking at now is 'Turnonyourmobile' as they are the only place that offer more than CEX. Has anyone used them?

If not, I don't think the couple of pounds extra is worth the risk. I'd never heard of them but they are consistently at the top of the list on the comparison tools:

Sell Apple iPhone 3GS 32GB Mobile Phone | Recycle Apple iPhone 3GS 32GB Mobile Phone

I took my phone into my local CEX today and apart from having to wait three hours from leaving it with them, I am happy.

iPhone 3gs 32gb unlocked which they graded as B (only 'mint' is A): I got £216 vs the £177 which was the best offer today (15/05/11) using the tool I linked to above.

On the downside you do need to give them box/plug adaptor/USB lead/earphones, would have been nice to hang onto lead and adptor if you are considering another iPhone. I'd imagine they have some secondhand value as I think I saw earlier that Argos want a total of £46 for a genuine new USB lead and adaptor

If only I could have gone somewhere that I didn't spend anything during those three hours.....
