Migrating Away from Orange with Number

Hi Guys

I want to move from Orange to o2.
I have 2 months left on my current 18 month contract but where I live Orange is absolutely pants and o2 is excellent and I would like to get an iPhone.
My question is do you think orange would let me have my PUK (?) code if I paid my 2 months of contract off and migrated my number to o2?

Has anyone moved early - I would imagine the only cost would be the payment of existing subs??

Thanks

Tone

I did it when I moved to Vodafone with about two months left - you will have to buy yourself out ( I had to use a debit card) and they will then send you a PAC code. Beware, the earlier you use the PAC code, the more they charge you - although I have no idea why nor did I get a satisfactory explaination whn I challenged them on this.

Re: Migrating Away from Orange with Number

Basically you can get a PAC Code anytime you want.

If your contract does't finish until 11th February, you will get charged Line Rental charges up untill that day.

This is because you are in a binding contract until the 11th February, which you have to pay for regardless.

paulmcg, not sure how you would be charged more by using it early???

Basically, if you are in contract lets say from 11th June 2006 until 11th February 2008 and you got your PAC Code in December 2007. You would first be charged for the remaining 2 months line rental cost. Then another bill may come through with all the call charges that you aquired up until your mobile number ported over to your new network.

Depending on how much your line rental is depends on how much you will pay.

Re: Migrating Away from Orange with Number

Ok I understand the PAC issueing process now.

I only have a £25 a month contract so its not a huge sum, I have no bundles as I was issued a work mobile which is getting used for most of my calls but I do fancy trying out an iPhone whilst still maintaining my work based Mobile 6 device.

How long does the move number to new provider typically take - I have been with orange for over 12 years and not had the need to move until now.

Thanks for the tips chaps.

Re: Migrating Away from Orange with Number

The move usually takes 7 working days.

£25 isn't too bad then. Depending on what day of the month your bills are produced, will depend on the final amount you will pay.

If you get your PAC Code in December it will be about £50 for line rental, then like I said before, when your last bill is produced it will contain the call charges (if any) up until your number ported over to O2.

HTH mate.

Pete.
