Talking I can now Drag & Drop files over WiFi from PC to my N95 8GB

After spending hours on top of hours working out how to get this SymSMB 2.00 app working my N95 8GB...http://www.telexy.com/Products/Products.aspx

I can now drag and drop files from my PC to my Nokia n95 8GB and from my N95 8Gb to PC over WiFi.

first you need to set up the accounts on your phone (you need two accounts)

First account
Domain = your computer name
Name = the name you use to log onto your computer
Password = the password you use to log onto your computer

second account
Domain = Myphone
Name = i used the same as the first account
Password = i used the same as the first account

Connections settings
Name = Myphone
Access Point = choose your wireless router
Auto connect = Yes
Ip address = (is auto found)

Shared folders settings
Shared Folder = E:
Name = Disk_E
Permissions = choose the first account (computer name one)

Network drive settings
Name = (any)
drive = X:
Acess point = (your wireless router)
Account = choose the first account (computer name one)
Host = (your computer name)
Share = the name of the shared folder on your computer.

Then you need to setup the mapped network drives on your computer...
Are you using vista or XP

Am using vista 64 bit...

In vista you click on the my computer icon and you see map network drive at the top

Then map one network drive
drive letter = E:
\\MyPhone\Disk_E

Then map the second network drive
Drive letter = X:
\\(your computer name)\(the name of the shared folder on your computer)

Re: I can now Drag & Drop files over WiFi from PC to my N95 8GB

Thanks a lot for taking the time with all the detail. Still having a tiny problem though.

I can FEEL how close I am. I've got everything done, except it asks for a username and password when trying to map my phone's drive. I tried my desktop username and password and it says: "The user name you typed is the same as the username you logged in with. That user name has already been tried. A domain controller cannot be found to verify that user name." It also won't let me leave it balnk."

It also won't let me leave it blank. Any ideas?

Re: I can now Drag & Drop files over WiFi from PC to my N95 8GB

Is it possible it has something to do with workgroups? My computer is in a workgroup called UK, and when I try to type a user name for logging into the N95 it appends UK/ to the username. I try removing it, but it keeps coming back. I'd also have thought I should be able to see the N95 wehn browsing entire network on WIn XP, but I wouldn't know which workgroup the phone puts itself in.

If you just want to stream or copy music, pictures or video to your phone, you can do this very easily using the phones native software by using the home media application which can be found in the Tools directory. On the N95-1 you will need to be running V20 firmware though.

Been using this for a while, it's a good app. not sure why you are mapping the second network drive though (back to your own machine) This isn't needed?

As you can see from scrprnt you can browse phone with just the one connection. Also scary you chose "myphone" for the connection, I've been using the same name for two months!?!?
