Advice needed on Ipaq battery charging

The Battery went on my Ipaq (2415) as I didn't use it for 6 mths while out of the country. Bought a new one,(battery) put it in the charging dock and it charged to 100%. Once I had run it down to 80% I charged it again and it wouldn't go above 80% Over the next few weeks This happened again till I was stuck with a battery at 14% which would charge no higher. Thought that the way I charged it was wrong so bought another battery and the same thing happened again.
Please can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong. Did a hard re-set in case it was the CPU not showing the charge properly, and have even flashed the bios with a new version all to no avail.
Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Re: Advice needed on Ipaq battery charging

Hi

Try doing the opposite of what you did. Fully charge it, then run it right down until it won't turn on. Repeat a few times.
