Best mobile for email?

Hi

I'm new to all this (been using a 6 year old Nokia!!), I now need to buy a new mobile and I hope you can help me choose the best one:

basically, I need a phone that allows me to get my emails from my existing AOL account as and when they arrive. It's important I get them ASAP as I work for myself, and if I miss an email, I miss a job, but then again, I won't be getting that many (possibly 2 or 3 a week), so I'm looking for the cheapest available deal.

Any recommendations would be v. appreciated

thanks!
Tasha

Red face Re: Best mobile for email?

my flight crew colleague has a blackberry which seems pretty good for those emails - as thats all he is on checking & writing instead of flying a 747
not so sure on deals...maybe wait on till christmas, new year sales to get a possible better deal or check out ebay..
btw tasha, what was your 6 year old nokia?
i had a 8850 since 1998!..just moved onto sony ericsson's K800i.

best of good luck..

Darryl.

Re: Best mobile for email?

Thanks Darryl! I'll look into that

My old Nokia is a 3210

The battery's going on the blink but otherwise it's still fine. And on the positive side, I know I can walk down my street without worrying about getting mugged for it

Re: Best mobile for email?

My suggestion would be get a Windows Mobile phone like the Palm Treo 750 with a full QWERTY keyboard. The Treo can be bought through Vodafone or outright on eBay. In my opinion, it is the best one handed device

Unlike the Blackberry, you can get a free Exchange account from providers like Mail2Web which will then push the email to your Treo for free (all you need to pay for is your network providers data charges). With mail2web, you can even aggregate your email accounts like your AOL account, and also have it pushed to the Treo as well. Best of all, its free.

Re: Best mobile for email?

And then there is the iPhone which is fantastic for email, but unless you use the other internet features I guess it does not fall in your cheap category....

Re: Best mobile for email?

I've just got Nokia E65 on three and that allows me to email, use skype, use the internet, free ebay, free msn messenger and loads of other stuff and its all included in the x-series silver package which is an extra £5 a month

Don't think i would ever leave three now

if you want to join three, i can get you £30 just for joining too

www.three.co.uk - look at the phones/packages
