Sidekick Slide to Sidekick 3 Question

I've recently (a week ago) got myself a Sidekick Slide from T-Mobile, which I'm very happy with. I haven't got the hard reset problem that's been reported in the US, so I must have got lucky there.

The question I have is this:

My friend is getting rid of his Sidekick 3 which he got from T-Mobile UK last year (or around) and I was wondering if I was to put my sim card with my Sidekick Slide in the Sidekick 3, would I still be able to access the Sidekick network and use all the features?

I know if you were to import a sidekick, you could only do text msgs and calls as you need to be connected to the network, so I was wondering if this held true if you were to change models of a sidekick.

If anyone can help, that would be great, thansks o much.
