Problems with iPhone and email

I am having problems synching my emails with my iphone. When I first did this, everything seemed to work fine, but then the email on my computer stopped working, throwing up a 'problem connecting to server' message.

I had to then re-input all my account information to get my emails back. As soon as I had done this, I then had a similar problem with my iPhone - I was then unable to send or receive emails on it.

To cut a long story short, it seems I can either use my phone, or my computer, but not both - everytime I re-enter my account details, the other device stops working.

Does anyone know why this happens, and is it a fault with my service provider?

Dont know about that, but I had a strange one today.

I set up my iphone the night it came out from CPW. Copied across my mac email account from Mail, and i entered 2 business ones (pop). All worked fine sending and receiving email. Last checked around 5pm tonite. Then around 7pm when I checked, my 2 pop accounts had totally disappeared - any reason for this?

Today I spoke to Apple technical support, and I gather that you cannot have a POP email account on both the iPhone and home computer - you have to set up a different email account on one of the devices.

Something to do with only being able to download once from the service provider server, or something...!

Nonsense - as ever, Apple tech support haven't got a clue! I have a single POP account that I can access from both PC and iPhone.

Just set your PC email account to leave messages on the server until deleted - the iPhone does this by default.

I agree. I only have one POP account and use the same one on both my laptop and my iPhone. I do have a Powerbook and when I setup my iPhone my email account details were automatically synchronized with my iPhone. I can access email from the same account on both the Powerbook and iPhone.
