Unwanted text messages

I keep getting unwanted text messages on my mobile phone. I received about 30 yesterday and I have received 44 so far today.

There is no text in the message - it is blank - coming from +4479002966980.

The messages arrive in clusters of about 10 messages each time spaced a few seconds apart.

I have tried calling the number but it just rings out and then cuts off without me being charged for the call.

What on earth is going on...?

Re: Unwanted text messages

Get on to your service provider, pronto. There is a possibility that you are paying to receive these... ;-( You might have got subscribed to some pay-to-receive service / scam.

Re: Unwanted text messages

Have to tried something like this from the vodafone help page.

You should always:
* reply to the sender with the word STOP
* forward the unwanted text messages to VSPAM [shortcode 87726] if you continue to receive them.

Re: Unwanted text messages

Try sending a text to that number with just the message STOP ALL

I had a spate of receiving some crap horoscope texts from a service my daughter had kindly subscribed me to. Numerous calls to their automated customer service number did nothing, but sending the STOP ALL text message did.

I can't guarantee it'll work for you, but it's worth a try.
