Advice needed - please!
Please can someone help me?
Currently as I perambulate my way through life, my pockets are loaded down with the following devices:
Nokia 5500 sport phone - Used for calls and also as bluetooth modem from my PDA
Hewlett Packard HX2400 PDA - Used to sync with outlook for all my contacts, email, diary and supporting Tomtom Navigator satnav and to connect to wifi hotspots and my home network
Ipod - obviously for storing music
Tomtom GPS receiver
Obviously, carrying this lot around with me is likely to result in severe back problems in later life and I am certain that somewhere out there there must be a single device which will do the same as all of the above. Can anyone with more up-to-date technical knowledge than me suggest a solution?

Re: Advice needed - please!
Nokia N95 8Gb or the upcoming N82 + a large SD card will do all of those functions.
Obviously they won't be quite as good at MP3 or hold as much as an Ipod (1000-2000 tracks at decentish bitrate)
SatNav is pretty good but still not quite as good as a standalone TomTom.

Re: Advice needed - please!
Actually, I should perhaps stress that it's not the end of the world if I still have to use my existing bluetooth gps receiver since it mostly just lives in the car anyway.
The main point is that the device I opt for should be able to do everything else. Is there anything ot there which runs windows mobile?

HTC TyTn II.
I'm in the same boat, having a Motorola V3i for phone and HP iPaq H5550 as PDA...I'm looking for a smartphone or PDA/Phone to do both but undecided between going smartphone such as Nokia N95 8gb Symbian device or another PDA such as the HTC series running Windows mobile.
I love my iPaq...it's done anything I've asked it to do comfortably but find it just a little on the large side for carrying around.
I use it for Outlook contacts and notes...I never use the calendar...I also use HandBase database for my work, Skype via Wi-Fi hotspots when I'm on holiday and Internet explorer to read the BBC news etc, Gmail for email...and Tom-Tom navigator...I never use a camera on my phone (I have a small Panasonic Lumix) and rarely use an MP3 player preferring to use my iPod.
So I'm still looking around...I have an O2 Pay Monthly contract and they are supposed to be stocking both the N95 8gb and TyTn II rebranded as the "Stellar" in December and that's when my contract renewal takes place.
I've never seen either in the flesh and would like to get my hands on them to see which I prefer...I like the idea of the button input on the N95 for typing/dialling etc but also fancy the TyTn for its processor speed and microSD card for storage and it gets good reviews mostly...I would like to see the screen on both to see which one is the most useable in daylight?
I'm also considering the new Nokia E51 which is getting great reviews (O2 also say they'll be supplying it from 4th Dec) and does everything I need but think I may find the screen a wee bit too small.

Palm Treo 750 or Palm 500v will do everything you are currently carrying around in your pockets. Both sport Windows Mobile 6. I have a Treo 750 myself and I love it. It is my music player, sat nav (with a Tom Tom GPS receiver the size of a matchbox), phone and organiser.
Other options include the TyTN II (as JayCee suggested), the XDA Orbit or a Blackberry Curve 8310 (which has GPS built-in and is going cheap on contract at the moment, £100 on £30 a month with T-Mobile for 12 months)

Re: Advice needed - please!
I think you need to prioritise what you use the most or what is most important to you.
I use a pda, phone & gps all the time, priority in that order. I looked for an all in one combo and went for an Ipaq 6519.
Problems... Screen was too small, couldnt take a phone call and write in an appointment at the same time ( ok I could use the headset, but its too cumbersome, or loudspeaker, too intrusive) Heavy. need an extra mount to use GPS in the car.
Tried a Palm, as suggested previously. Lovely bit of kit, but too steep a learning curve from Pocket PC, and I didnt like the software ( calendar, contacts) + all the bad pints from above.
Nokia N80..... too small, too heavy, no gps.
Nokia N95...... as above but with gps and a poor battery life, but i did just borrow this one for a while.
Do you need an all in one, or will smaller units do if you can combine one or two?
What about an iPhone and a gps?
I soon discovered the all in one solution was not for me.
What did I end up with?
Ipaq hx2490. Brilliant screen, wifi B/T, plays movies and music ( but I dont need these). Syncs with my PC and Mac.
Blackberry pearl. Small,light, emails, sms.
Garmin Nuvi, Small, light, best GPS for me.
Garmin etrex with topographical mapping. For walking.
Too big for your pockets? Buy a manbag.....
Allan

Allan,
Did you try the 750 or 500 which are both Windows Mobile (the update to Pocket PC) devices?
I tried the HP iPAQ 6915 as well and we didn't get along. It was too slow and fidgety.

Re: Advice needed - please!
All in one, I think there is only the Nokia N95...But too me that is all about having everything in one device opposed to having several device that work actually very well...Only you can say whether you can make that sacrifice....Or alternatively the HTC TytN-II which is if your are already used to Windows Mobile probably the better bet, I would definitely choose it over symbian....Or the HTC Touch Cruise (though personally I don't like the fact that the touch interface is only skin deep...)
I use my TomTom 910 in my car and do the rest on my iPhone. If I want handheld directions, the Google maps application on the iPhone is lightyears ahead compared to any other implementation of google maps and suprisingly good for directions....

Re: Advice needed - please!
Can you import and read/edit MS Outlook "notes" on a Nokia S60 Symbian mobile?

You can on my debranded v11 N95 8GB (S60v3).
Menu > Applications > Office > Notes (or put it as one of 7 desktop shortcuts).
Outlook Tasks can be synchronised too

Re: Advice needed - please!
Thanks for all these - some interesting solutions! Now all I have to do is go and start reading reviews and looking at these devices to see what is most likely to fit the bill! Thanks again.

Re: Advice needed - please!
Just to update you, In the end I went for the Tyntyn (In its Vodafone guise as the v1615) - free on contract from Vodafone.
I have now had it for a week and what an amazing bit of kit it is! It connects to absolutely everything and the inbuilt GPS receiver is even quicker and more accurate than my bluetooth Tomtom receiver was! With the adittion of a 6gb memory card it stores loads of MP3sand even the battery life doesn't seem to be that bad. Thanks for the advice everyone! Happy Christmas!

Re: Advice needed - please!
Just a thought but I have the 5500, it runs Tom Tom 6 no problem and whilst the screen is small it is quite clear, it synchs with outlook for calendar and addresses etc.I've got a 2Gb card in but micro SDs are up to 8Gb at present which is a fair amount of music.
