Angry Mobile Phone CASHBACK Customer? IMPORTANT - Read This!!!!!

If you've bought a contract via one of these 3 website, you MUST read this:

New cashback collapse
11:54AM Mon 19 November 2007

Mobile Media Systems Ltd, the parent company of online cashback retailers Phonebox Direct and Cool New Mobile, went into administration on Wednesday.

Mobile understands that the company informed staff on Wednesday, before the doors to three offices were locked and a firm of administrators called in. Approximately 45 staff are thought to have been made redundant.

Phonebox Direct and Cool New Mobile were both established in 2003. The company is believed to have connected upwards of 2,000 customers per month, the majority of which were made through Dextra.

The news of Phonebox Direct's demise will come as a blow to Dextra, which also traded with Dialamobile, the company that went out of business in September leaving behind £12m of unpaid cashback. The cost to Dextra of Dialamobile's collapse has been estimated to be in the region of £3.5m.

However, Dextra managing director James Browning said the impact on the company would not be as severe this time. Browning said: 'After Dialamobile, we consciously reduced the number of connections we put into that kind of business. I guess the result is that we are in a better position than if we had carried on with the run-rate trading that we had experienced with cashback dealers.'

He added: 'From a Dextra perspective, it heralds the end of us supporting the cashback business, unless there are stringent safeguards in place.'

During Mobile's coverage of Dialamobile's collapse, we highlighted Phonebox Direct's offer of £420 cashback on a 12-month Vodafone contract as one of the many offers on the web that seemed too good to be true. Offers currently on its website include 12 months' free line rental on 12-month contracts with 3, Vodafone, T-Mobile and O2.

The retailer says its prices are 'the keenest on the internet and well below high street retailers', and describes itself as 'one of the largest independent mobile phone retailers on the internet'.

Disgruntled customers of Phonebox Direct have posted messages on online forums saying the company stopped responding to emails regarding cashback claims in October.

Rob Barnes, head of mobiles at Moneysupermarket.com, said Phonebox Direct and Cool New Mobile were removed from the price comparison website's listings following a rise in the number of complaints against the retailers.

Mobile Media Systems managing director and owner Simon Slater declined to comment.

I think they're a seperate, reputable company.

Certainly they've been very efficient at cashback payouts in the past when I've used them.
