help needed to find a PC contacts/address manager for my N-series phone (N95-2)

Does anyone know if there is any software you can use on your PC that syncs all your phonebook contacts from your phone, and allows you to update and add entries on your PC.

Ive looked at the nokia suite software and its really rubbish. It only uses the 10 years old windows Address Book, which means half of your data stored is missed out because of the limited number of fields.

I dont know what to do. I used to use MyPhoneExplorer on my k800i. Surely there must be something similar

If i cant find anything it means I am gonna have to manually enter all my 200 or so phone contacts from my old phone to my new nokia n95 black. Im really surprised no one else has mentioned this, as i suspect everyone will be having the same problem, so i can only assume i have totally missed something or am doing something wrong

I did mine through Microsoft Outlook...

Firstly I exported the contacts from my previous phone into a a csv file. I was then able to import the contacts into Outlook, map the fields myself and create all the details into the Outlook contacts.

I then used the Nokia software to sync the N95 with Outlook (just contacts) and everything worked okay.

Hope this helps.

Re: help needed to find a PC contacts/address manager for my N-series phone (N95-2)

as already mentioned MS Outlook. Nearly everyphone under the sun will synch with MS Outlook.

Nokia PC suite isn't really desinged to be used standalone, it's designed to be used with Outllok or Notes.

it's always useful to synch with outlook regularly as it means you've got a backup copy of all your contacts.

Another method until you can get a copy of outlook is check to see if you can Bluetoth all your contacts between mobiles.

Once you've started synching with Outlook you'll realise just how rubbish the Sony software is

lol.. sony erricson suite is rubbish probably, but myphoneexplorer is an independent bit of s/w that is well documented for being the best sync s/w ever made.

Will outlook express work? or does it have to be the proper outlook

You should be able to use Nokia PC Suite to back up your contacts from your old phone and restore them to the new phone without using Outlook in between.

There is an app for Symbian that syncs with Google calender and contacts, might be worth a look.

thanks for your help guys, much appreciated. However, i cant beleive how fustrating this is

ive saved my contacts list from my k800i into a vcf file. Ive loaded this into outlook, and it only brings up the 1st name in the contact list. Surely that cant be right? Then ive just read that outlook can only import one contact at a time lol.
