Angry Signing Symbian Apps...

Please help me before I smash my laptop to pieces... I have been trying to sign a couple of apps all night and I am losing my rag!!!

I cannot get the Symbian Development Certificate tool to work at all. I have tried installing it and using it, but it won't open. I just get the message:

'Windows is searching for DevCertRequest.exe. To locate the file yourself, click Browse.'

I have uninstalled and rebooted, re-installed, downloaded a fresh copy from Symbian Signed, etc, but I still get the same problem.

Why is adding apps to my phone so sodding complicated?????

I am using Vista Ultimate. Is there another tool I can use to get these apps onto my phone?

Re: Signing Symbian Apps...

Are you trying to use the old Cert request app from the link posted on the instructions on "Go-Symbian" etc.. or have you downloaded the current one from here http://developer.symbian.com/main/do...ices_Tools.zip

download it, extract the files from the Zip, open the extracted folder and run the "Symbian Developer Sevices tools" application from the SymbianDevServicesTools folder.

Edit: It's a Java app so if you don't hav Java installed it won't work http://www.java.com/en/download/wind...t=www.java.com

Thumbs up Re: Signing Symbian Apps...

Uridium, you're a star - thanks so much!

I was using the latest DevCertRequest file from Symbian Signed, but it just wouldn't work for some reason - your file worked great! Thanks again

Re: Signing Symbian Apps...

Hmmmm almost there with it now....

... I've followed all the instructions through (pretty easy, really), but it's just that when I click the auto_signsis.bat file, the new signed file doesn't appear? The dos window flashes up that fast that I can't read any message that it comes up with

Any ideas?

Re: Signing Symbian Apps...

What are you trying to sign? I would have thought the developer would have signed it for you

For futue ref.

Was probably an error or typo in the batch file. Edit the batch file and add the word pause onto a new line at the end, this will make a batch file wait for a keypress before ending (giving you time to spot the error)

Beta apps are usually supplied unsigned as getting an app fully signed by Symbian for all IMEI's can sometimes take several months. without being fully signed the Beta app will have to be signed for individual IMEI numbers

Re: Signing Symbian Apps...

if the signsis program does not run, it is generally because your .net framenet needs updating, normally you will also need service pack 2 installed before you can update your .net framework.
