any offers??

you can't. the Email inbox on the phone is designed to receive POP3 or IMAP Email VIA the Internet

Re: Sending Email Via the INBOX

mmm dont get it. what i mean is, on my phone you can go to the internet and open up, ornage email, gmail, hotmail etc, which i can do fine. but what i want to do, is receive my emails into the email inbox, or isnt that whats it for?

I have anotherphone, so on my sony ericsson what i did was to go to gmail on my pc and change the settings so it sent a copy of my email to my '3' email account in doing so it sent it straight to the email inbox and i didnt even have to set up the email settings on the phone or go on line on the phone internet to get the email from my '3' account. is this making sense?

So i tried the same thing, i set up my gmail to send a copy of my emails to my orange email address on my new vietwy but it didnt work. i even then tried to change the email settings on the phone and it doesnt seem to work as it says invalid log in.

what i do get, is a message in my sms inbox saying i have email and i need to go online on the phone to check it out or phone voice mail.

whats going wrong here?

Re: Sending Email Via the INBOX

You go into the Email settings on your phone, configure the Email application just as you would Outlook etc.. on your PC with the POP3 and SMTP servers for Email delivery/sending then you open the email inbox and choose check for new mail, it will connect to the internet and download a copy to your phone.

Just because you aren't using the phone's browser doesn't mean you Sony Ericsson isn't connecting to the internet to pick up the email

I'd suggest the reason you never had to set it up on the old phone is because it was pre configured by 3.

You don't need to forward the email from Gmail to Orange just configure the Email app on the phone with your Gmail login details and the incoming server as pop.gmail.com. you will need to use your network providers own SMTP server for utgoing mail though.

This should help

Re: Sending Email Via the INBOX

My N95 and Outlook on my PC both use POP for Gmail retrieval.

The Gmail standalone App you can install on the mobile uses IMAP.
