Smartphone upgrade advice sought (e61 user)

My contract with Vodafone expired a month or so ago, so it's upgrade time.

I've had a Nokia e61 for the last 12 months. It's OK I guess. Can't complain, but it's not really got me enthusiastic enough to want to upgrade to the e61i without checking the market first.

Before the e61 I had a Treo 650. That was 90% awesome (with the other 10% being the rather crappy sound when I made calls) but there's no newer palm devices available in the UK. I took the e61 which isn't as good in a lot of ways, but has 3G and WiFi.

I need a recommendation of decides to look at. I needs something which:
  • Is currently available or very soon to be released. Not worth waiting until next year.
  • Has a full qwerty keyboard. I cannot stress how important this is: No qwerty=no good.
  • Does not run any version of Windows Mobile. Again, WinMob=no good.
  • Preferably has no moving parts/hinges. the Treo/Blackberry form factor is what I'm used to but I'll look at other stuff.
  • Has 3G
  • Has Wifi.

I was looking at the Blackberry Curve. That doesn't appear to have 3G or WiFi though. There's the e61i, which I know pretty much has everything I need, but is kinda "meh" in almost every way. We use them a lot at work, they're OK, but I'm not bowled over by it and I think I need to look elsewhere.

What's about at the moment?

Hi RichKS,

What I would do recommend in your situation is to call the dedicated upgrades team on the customer service line 08700 700191 (or 191 from a vodafone handset) and explain what you want from a handset.

At the same time you could check information on a third party website such as gsmarena, and check the features against your needs.

Hopefullyuseful
