+44 problem on us iphone

Hello
I have posted this due to posting in the iphone thread & having the thread hijacked.
When I recieve texts or calls I get the +44 prefix on the iphone.
It is a US unlocked iphone with 1.1.1 firmware.
I have installer on the phone.
I have international menu enabled on the phone which gets rid of the spacing issue.
This is the last issue to sort with the iphone, everything else is cool.
I have a mac & need a step by step guide if poss.
A chap in Manhattan unlocked for me whilst on holiday.
thanks in advance

You might do well to go over to www.hackint0sh.org. I'm sure you'll find the answer there

Have you actually tried changing all your contacts to the international format?

All mine are stored in international format and caller ID works perfectly.

Re: +44 problem on us iphone

I'm in Ireland and I have a similar issue. My solution, though time consuming, was to have two numbers for each contact.

Say a number is 0851234567, I would have two mobile entries. One is 0851234567, the other is +353851234567

That seems to do the job.

Hi I think I will probably go with this suggestion until there is maybe an easier way to do as the method on the hackintosh site is a bit too risky for me, don't want to risk bricking the phone
will having numbers stored internationally effect incoming/outgoing calls cost wise? I would not have thought so but it was a valid question from the mrs.

Re: +44 problem on us iphone

Nope. You're still dialing locally. Just like dropping the area code for an area you're in.

Ever since the GSM network's started and international roaming was made possible I always put all numbers in the international format...Nothing more irritating than having to edit your number before you can make a call when abroad....

I am amazed how few people do this as for nearly the last 20 years this is how both landline and mobile numbers are send across all telephone networks...
