Iphone - syncing contacts and mail

Hope its ok to start a new thread with this - wasnt sure if there is a general "post all Iphone queries here" thread.

So on my jailbroken iphone when I connect it up to itunes to syn - i get the following message:

"Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfull the messaging request. Please run Microsft Outlook and set it as the default mail client"

Now in my iphone options I have it ticked to sync contacts with outlook (and i do use outlook to store contacts and as a calender) and have it set to synch calander appointments to.
However - it doesnt seem to do either of these.

I don't have 'sync selected mail accounts' ticked though - as it only gives me the options of outlook or outlook express (I don't use either - i use the fantastic thunderbird)
So surely I shouldnt get such a message anyway about mail client as i've not even asked it to sync? And how do i make it sync my contacts?

Re: Iphone - syncing contacts and mail

If on windows it behaves the same as on Apple it is because it is trying to read the e-mail accounts that are setup so it can display them in the list. It properly wants to check the MAPI settings in Windows and it sounds like your e-mail client has not been properly setup as the default in windows....

Go to control panel and internet options and make certain it has the appropriate settings...
