3 have really shook up the world of mobiles

http://3skypephone.com/english/index.html

Skype is now mobile. Calling your world is free.

You don’t need a computer to make free calls anymore. Use 3 Skypephone instead. It’s a stylish mobile phone that calls, texts and takes pictures like you’d expect it to – but wait, there’s more – you can call and instant message your friends on Skype, free.

Everything you’d expect from a mobile.
Sign into Skype and make free calls to anyone else on Skype.
Send free instant messages on Skype too.
No computer necessary.

Walk and talk
Use Skype while you’re walking to work, sitting in the park or queuing for football tickets. Free yourself from your computer with 3 Skypephone.

Skype at the touch of a button
Just press the big Skype button to start making free calls and send instant messages on Skype. Simple.

Sleek, stylish, shiny
With 3G, a 2-megapixel camera, mp3 player, mobile TV and internet, 3 Skypephone keeps you occupied even when you run out of things to say. Plus, it’s small and shiny, and comes in black or white, with blue or pink trim.

You can use Skype for free on other 3 handsets too.

Set your friends free
If your friends and family have a 3 Skypephone (in a country where it’s available), you can all speak mobile-to-mobile on Skype for free. So go on, buy your best friend a phone and you can talk and chat to your heart’s content.

Thing is though, after all these years I still don't know a single person on the Skype network!

Actually quite amazed by this.

I guess they are relying on people plenty of standard mobile calls/texts? could it backfire on them?

Re: 3 have really shook up the world of mobiles

I was on 3 for a year, had to be the worst operator i have ever been with..... I hope it does backfire and they close down

on a more serious note tho voip has been on phones for a while, but i do think that 3 will make the way for this technology to come larger, they'll only find another way to charge you eventually.

i think its a great idea. a lot of people don't use it because of the inconvience of having to be on the pc/laptop whilst using it. I know that some mobiles have voip already thats dependant on wi-fi connections or using specific software on your pc/laptop

All three have done really is make it EASIER to use the skype service and i really do think that this will take off for them.

if the phone does emails, i will be getting one for sure.

Re: 3 have really shook up the world of mobiles

3 Skypephone

I've just been told by 3 CS that I can buy the PAYG handset and use it on my current 3 contract for £5/month extra. Seems like a bargain to me.

Anyone else heard the same?

As the above post says, you could re-new your current contract with all the minutes and texts you usually have, pay £50 for the handset, sell the new handset you get (ie £200+ for the n95) and then have all the contract package and the skype phone plus around £150 in your pocket!

Call it taking something away from three as they get enough £££ of customers already

but also adding, three are pretty much unbeatable for value for money contracts!!!!
