Question Advice re hard reset on nokia 6230i

My partner has a PAYG Nokia 6230i on O2. There's an intermittent fault where the screen goes blank/white or folders have like a cross through them in gallery. The blanking has happened after hanging up from a voice call and when receiving texts. The screen will stay blank for a couple of minutes then seems to reset itself.

It's less than 6 months old and retailer wants to send off for repair but before going down that road I wanted to try a hard reset to see if it would remedy the problem. I have a couple of questions though:

1. Is this the correct code to enter: *#7370#, 12345 and then Yes (with 12345 being lock code).

2. When do I enter the code?

3. Can I do any more damage to the phone with a hard reset?

4. Is a hard reset likely to cure the problem. I've searched and have found a handful of references to this happening to others but without much detail.

The phone has never been dropped or in contact with water and hasn't led a hard life unless being switched on 24/7 is hard. Taking battery out overnight has not solved problem.

Your help will be greatly appreciated.

The hard reset or phone format will not damage the phone. Just enter the numbers at the normal screen. It will wipe everything, contacts, messages, any applications you've installed/downloaded, the lot.

Its worth a try.

Re: Advice re hard reset on nokia 6230i

Thanks Andy, I'm going to try it at the weekend so we've got time to get the phone back to how she wants it over the weekend.
