Re: New Samsung G800
Bit unfair on the K850i as this G800 would be the first phone with optical zoom, so for the sake of fairness you could apply sentiment to all camera phones

Re: New Samsung G800
should be the same price as a K850i though
the rear looks ugly though and would look better without the lens cover, especially as it looks wonky in the pics

not quite. the sharp 902 had optical zoom, and that was released in 2004:

Re: New Samsung G800
It does look like a great phone on paper. Given that it should be out by the end of next month, I may wait on purchasing the K850i to see how this fares. The optical zoom is what has me most interested!

Re: New Samsung G800
That story is dated from the 26 Juy 2007. Check out this link from the same site, which is dated 22 October 2007, this is what it says:

As of now there is no information of the retail price of the handset but we will probably find it out soon as the phone is going to hit European markets no latter than November this year.

Re: New Samsung G800
Mm, I'm toying with this one at the moment. I've got the K850i from O2 and I'm not really bowled over by it yet. The text message previewing is really irritating me, and the camera doesn't seem quite as good as I was hoping. Will any of the High Street shops have the G800 in stock as preview models, or will we have to wait until it's officially launched? Could do with knowing a bit more about the o/s as I've been a Sony boy for a long time and haven't had a Samsung since the D500!

Re: New Samsung G800
There's no preview models yet, although give it a couple of weeks and I'm sure they'll be there. I'm in a similar situation as I've never owned a Samsung phone before and I'm a bit concerned about the UI.

Re: New Samsung G800
The review from Mobile Review is up and it's not too complementary about the camera which is a shame, they say it's no better than the G600.

Re: New Samsung G800
I thought the phone was due out sooner, it looks like that it's pictures aren't that improved from what the G600 brought despite the optical zoom.
