Vodafone 1615 Active Sync install problems
I have just taken delivery of the Vodafone 1615 otherwise known as the Kiaser. My problem is that cant install active sync 4.5. I get an error message invalid drive:E please select a valid drive. I am using windows XP with all the latest updates. I have no other drives and have never had any problems installing software before. Any ideas?

Re: Vodafone 1615 Active Sync install problems
Hi,
We'll try to help you as much as we can with this if you were to call Vodafone on 191. Our technical department can go through some options with you over the phone to see if this is something we can do to resolve it. I would say that there's still a chance it could be a Windows issue and it could be worth contacting them too if we're unable to resolve it with you.

Re: Vodafone 1615 Active Sync install problems
Thanks for the reply and advice. I work for Vodafone and fear that 191 can't help as it appears as you mention, to be a windows problem as I tried to install the software on another p.c and it worked fine.

Re: Vodafone 1615 Active Sync install problems
I had no problems at all (T-Mobile MDA Vario III) on a vaio laptop running xpsp2. I can remember activesync being a pain when i had an ipaq years ago though.

Re: Vodafone 1615 Active Sync install problems
tried downloading from the M.S site and other mirror sites. No luck same error message. Don't know what else to do may send it back and reconsider my options. May have to go for a Nokia E90 when they come back into stock.
Thanks everyone for your replies.

Re: Vodafone 1615 Active Sync install problems
Just a thought - have you got a flash card reader installed in the machine? If so, what drive letters are they on? They could be conflicting with the setup.
If you go to Disk Management in Computer Management in Administrative Tools you'll be able to change the card reader's drive letters if required.
If had a similar problem when installing a Garmin GPS unit that kept trying to use a card drive letter.

Re: Vodafone 1615 Active Sync install problems
Hi Chawton,
The only way you can group contacts on your handset is by setting a contact category for them, such as personal or business etc.. I don't think that this will give you an option to send a message to the group, but it's certainly worth a try.
To add a number to the group:
1. Create a new Outlook contact, or select an existing Outlook contact
to edit.
2. Tap Categories.
3. Select a preset category such as Business or Personal, or tap New to
create your own category.
4. When finished, tap OK.
To view contacts by category, tap Menu > Filter then select the desired
category.
Fingers crossed this will work!

Re: Vodafone 1615 Active Sync install problems
Tried that.
Doesn't work.
When you go to compose the SMS the To:- option only brings up all your contacts, so you have to sort through and find all 8 people in a list of 800.
Why don't companies offer the simple everyday functions to everyone on thier software. I still think that Nokia have got the easiest and most logical software of all phones.
