is my phone a N73 music edition ?
just bought an Orange locked N73, supposedly a music edition
the box has the picture of the green screened N73 and says music edition but the phone itself hasn't got the green screen and the setup of the icons is different to the picture and I can't find the graphic equaliser either
the firmware is
V3.0704.1.0.1
19-01-2007
RM-133
Nokia N73 (30.01)
I've tried a software update but the Nokia software says I have the latest edition
can anyone help ?
thanks
also, is there any way to force a firmware update to the latest available (v4.0736.3.2.1) instead of the latest Orange

Does the phone's IMEI match the IMEI shown on the box?

Re: is my phone a N73 music edition ?
You can debrand Nokias via their software updater, you will need the product code of the simfree version of the N73 ME. There was a couple of threads on here regarding how to do it.
If you do a search on Nokia debranding or N73 debranding I am sure they will show up. You are doing a complete firmware upgrade though so be sure what you are doing before commiting as you can brick your phone if it goes wrong.

which makes it all the more confusing
why wouldn't it have the features of the N73ME ? not least the green theme
and it doesn't seem to have the correct earphones, there are no navigation buttons, as in the picture in the manual, just the volume
I don't really want to flash it with a generic ME firmware but would like to know if others with an Orange branded 73ME have the same setup

What colour is the handset out of interest ?
If its black then its an original music edition.

Re: is my phone a N73 music edition ?
On the flap inside the box I am sure it says Music edition.
Different service providers also have different firmwares.
Mine is an ex Voda ME and the firmware is
V 3.0638.0.0.30
30-10-2006
RM-133
nOKIAn73 (x7.01)
Hope this helps

it does say Music Edition on the inside flap, but as I said, it had the wrong earphones and menus
I've taken the plunge and changed the product code using Nemisis then flashed it with the latest Euro2 ME firmware
it now looks and works as it should
thanks
