Re: Old sim with new phone = same number and contacts?
Yeah telephone number is all to do with the sim card, so that will mean you have the same number in your new phone. Just be wary that many phones are locked to a network, so say if your sim card is current on Orange, you will have to get a phone which is capable of having an Orange sim in.
If your numbers are store on the sim card, when you put it in your new phone, then they will be with you. However if your numbers are stored in the phone, then yes you will have to find a way to transfer them. The slowest way, as you've already mentioned is to write them down. To save time you may be able to bluetooth them from your own phone to your new one. One year i remember I copied over 90 contacts from my old phone to my sim, then put my sim into my new phone, and copied the contacts from the sim to the new phone. Erased the contacts from the sim, and started the process again until all my contacts had been moved across. It's always a good idea to have a backup of your contacts, as if I ever lost my phone, I'd be more annoyed at all the numbers I've lost than the actual phone itself.
